Garage staff 'shaken' after being threatened with shotgun

The men – who were both wearing balaclavas – fled the scene by car.

GARDAÍ IN CLONMEL are appealing for information after a robbery in the village of Drangan on Friday evening.

It happened at Slattery’s Garage on Main Street at around 7.30pm, according to Tipp FM.

Staff were said have been left ‘very shaken’ after being threatened with a shotgun – but the men left empty-handed, fleeing the scene by car.

Anyone with information is being asked to contact Clonmel Garda Station on 052 6177647.

“They fled the scene and turned in the direction of O’Connor’s public house and they left down the Newtown Road,” Detective Seamus Maher told the local broadcaster.

“Both males are described as being around 5′ 10″, in their early 20s. They both wore balaclavas.”

I worked in a garage along the canal in Dublin and we were held up on a near weekly basis. Knives, syringes and guns were used. Some days a gang would hit all the stations along the road and we would phone each other with a warning to pull the shutters. They’d never get more than a couple of hundred quid but it was easy drugs money. It’s horrible when it happens though

If someone breaks into your house and doesn’t nick anything, it’s still a burglary.
