This drone footage from the world's largest cave is just stunning

Sit back and enjoy.

IT ONLY CAME to attention in 2009, but we can now take a look inside the world’s largest cave thanks to incredible footage captured by photographer Ryan Deboodt.

He’s been exploring Hang Son Doong since December 2013, but two months ago took his work to the next level - using a drone to make this amazing video:

Hang Son Doong from Ryan Deboodt on Vimeo.

The cave is located in the jungle near the Laos-Vietnam border. It was thought to have been first discovered by local man Hồ-Khanh in 1991.

According to Business Insider, the cave is home to entire new species of plants, monkeys, birds and flying foxes. It’s so big, you could fit a 40-storey building in the main chamber.

If you’re thinking of visiting, we have bad news: You have to book months in advance and pay about €3,000 for the privilege.

These sort of places, when found, should be left alone. The ecosystem has been operating for who knows how long without interference. Protect it from the outside but let any plant or animal inside live as it always has.

Maybe it’s that price to discourage visiting?

I agree. Looks amazing, but I’m a little disheartened it was discovered as we will most likely f*ck it up in some way or another.

How long do you reckon it’ll be before we see some of these new species in a zoo… or better yet, the frozen section at Tesco?

There’s a lot of day light for a cave! I was expecting a lot of darkness, still a nice video. Will go if I’m in the area.

Great footage and very nice track too. Bad form not to credit the music artist in the article though, especially as they weren’t credited at the end of the video either. :(
