A US BILLIONAIRE with a penchant for Irish property has just bought another one of the country’s hotels.
John Malone, alongside his JMP partners Paul Higgins and Lalco, has agreed to purchase the InterContinental Hotel in Ballsbridge, Dublin (formerly the Four Seasons Hotel) from London and Regional Property, for an undisclosed sum.
The partnership and InterContinental Hotel Group will invest over €5 million “to further enhance the experience of visitors to Dublin’s premier five-star hotel”, according to a statement released today.
The deal still needs to be approved by the Competition and Consumer Protection Commission, but is the expected to be completed within 30 working days.
Malone, the biggest private landowner in the US, already owns the five-star Westin Hotel, as well as the Trinity City Hotel, The Hilton Dublin and the Limerick Strand Hotel.
The InterContinental Hotel, which had traded as the Four Seasons Hotel since it opened in 2001, was acquired by London and Regional in mid-2011.
The hotel’s name was changed in January. It features 197 guest rooms including 58 suites, an indoor swimming pool, a spa and fitness centre, two restaurants, two bars, meeting rooms and a 15,000 square foot ballroom.
Higgins said John Malone and partners are “thrilled to be associated with a hotel that holds such a special place in the hearts and minds of discerning visitors to Dublin”.

Yawn. A rooted Galaxy S4 with a custom Rom is superior to Iphone 6 in every way. Apple are just masters of marketing.

How much does Apple pay the Journal for advertising, I remember the iPhone 6 was released you had about 6 different articles in the space of 2 days for a vastly ovrraated and overpriced phone.

Had an iphone for a few years, loved it. Got a Nokia lumia, took a while to get use to their sub standard apps, but the battery life is so much better. The iphone is nothing special anymore, just the app store that keeps it at no.1 imho
Of course battery is better, if so few apps you just never use it…
battery power is an issue, theres packs you can get but… still, i’d have a pain in my face having 2-3 devices not compatible with each other. a kindle, a samsung and a macbook wouldn’t work for me. iOS apps are better designed, they sell more as well.

If I use a micro SD card with adapter in my Canon camera I can have a photo up on the net in about five minutes if I want. I just swap the card out to my Samsung Galaxy and share straight from there.
Sorry but I can have a photo from my “traditional” camera edited and shared within 5 mins using a USB OTG adaptor and a DSLR control app
