POLICE IN MERSEYSIDE IN the UK have launched an investigation after 38 snakes, including eight pregnant females, were stolen from a flat.
The snakes were taken from the flat in St Helens after two thieves forced their way inside. They were later seen leaving with two sacks and making off in a dark coloured vehicle.
Police say the Royal Python snakes are non-venomous and extremely unlikely to pose any threat to the public but should only be cared for by experienced owners. They included 8 pregnant females and 11 of young snakes.
“These snakes, in particular the pregnant and young snakes, need specialist care and can grow to around 5ft in length,” according to Detective Constable Neil Henry.
“This is a large collection of snakes that the victim had been gathering for a while.”
Police say there is a specialist demand for snakes and expect that they will be offered up for sale locally.

In all fairness though, that’s a huge amount of money to the right buyers. Depending on the breed and what breed the females were impregnated by the price could be sky high!
