Major cannabis seizure in north Dublin suburb

Two cars were stopped in the Coolock/Santry area.

GARDAÍ HAVE MADE a major cannabis seizure in the suburbs of north Dublin.

Two vehicles travelling in the Coolock/Santry area were stopped by officers from the Garda Drugs and Organised Crime Unit this afternoon and were searched.

During the course of a search, a large amount of cannabis herb with an estimated street value of €500,000 was seized.

Four men were in the two vehicles and they have all been arrested.

The men are aged 27, 30, 36 and 58 years and are being held at Coolock and Ballymun garda stations.

Gardaí say that follow up searches are now being carried out.

Oh yes Jane, love the haze. Wouldn’t waste my money on anything weaker..I can’t drink red wine when having a spliff. My mouth would be as dry as Gandi’s flip flop..I find a few Erdinger are a lot more pleasant..

I wonder how much money we waste every year sending armies of cops after a drug that, even if you actively tired to overdose on it, you couldn’t. 100s of 1000s of people the world over are gunned down by armies and police to protect our society against this drug that can’t kill you, a man in Florida was shot point blank in the head by a SWAT team 6 weeks ago on a raid in his apartment (an unarmed man) after they got a tip that he had plants in his apt, madness.

Addiction will always be with us. People are addicted to codeine and hydrocodone does that mean we should ban those products and leave cancer patients in pain? People are addicted to gambling does that mean we should ban the lotto?

Compulsive behaviors are not caused by the object of those behaviors. Its not the drink per say that’s causing Jims alcoholism it’s the psychological factors causing a problem Jim wants to dull the pain of with drink.
We also should have learned by now that banning something does not mean it’s not available – banning drugs did not get rid of drugs, it just made the drugs that were available far more dangerous because they’re unregulated

I find that the majority of drug users are responsible drug users. Whether that be a few pints on the weekend or the odd use of a vaporizer the same logic applies. We need to help those who misuse and leave the responsible users alone. This approach works with alcohol and is working with cannabis in the places it’s legal/ decriminalised.

In a regulated market skunk will become a thing of the past, thc/cbd ratios would be regulated like the safety regulations put in place for the production of alcohol.

Awful to hear of those cases involving skunk and the legal highs (friend of family committed in Oz), but if we had legalisation, the state could monitor the strength as could the people, without fear of reproach (like in Amsterdam). Much safer outlook. Portugal is a great example of using state funded help to assist with addiction to drugs rather than locking them up. These people need help, not incarceration. Prohibition has failed for alcohol. War on drugs has failed spectacularly. We’re too conservative a nation, waiting for the UK to step up, which wont be in the near future.

This “skunk” thing is a load of ballhicks. It is a term used to describe any strong cannabis strain. With stronger versions of recreational substances you simply consume less. Think of skunk like spirits in the alcohol world. People in the 70′s were getting just as high as people today, they just needed to smoke a lot more plant matter.
