'I thought I lost you': Sailor missing at sea for 66 days found safe and well

Louis Jordan had been on a fishing trip when he hit a rough patch of weather.

AN AMERICAN SAILOR who had been missing at sea for 66 days has been found alive and well.

Discovered yesterday by the U.S. Coast Guard 200 miles off the coast of North Carolina, the 36-year-old Louis Jordan had set sail on his boat ‘Angel’ on 23 January from Bucksport Marina in South Carolina.

He was reported missing on 29 January by his father after he had not been in contact with his family for a number of days.

After an initial search for Jordan had been unsuccessful he was later discovered by a German cargo ship.

His discovery came to light when the container ship ‘The Houston Express’ contacted the US Coast Guard at around 1.30pm yesterday with the news they had taken a man on board from a disabled sail boat, local news source WAVY reports.

After being found he was taken to Sentara Norfolk General Hospital in Virginia for treatment.

Jordan had initially set out on a fishing trip and ran into trouble when his boat hit a rough patch of weather that damaged his communications equipment and broke the boat’s mast.

He managed to survived for more than two months by rationing supplies, eating raw fish and drinking rain water.

In his first phone call with his son since his discovery, Louis’s father, Frank Jordan, said:

Man, it’s nice to hear your voice. People have been praying for you… hey Louis, you’re fine son. I’m so glad that you’re alive.
We prayed and prayed and we hoped that you were still alive. And that’s all that matters… I thought I lost you.

Best of luck to all the brave start-ups across Ireland (we’re gonna need it)!

If you are on LinkedIn we’re a new start up for businesses looking to reduce their energy costs (http://www.linkedin.com/company/energyelephant-com).

On the finance side, we’ve learned the hard way that the best way to raise finance is to find paying customers. It is easier and less time consuming than any of the grant processes which to be honest are almost a waste of your time and effort unless you have no other options.
