DOES THE DATE ’21 April’ mean anything to you?
No, it’s not the anniversary of the ice-age ending.
21 April is, in fact, the date Father Ted was first broadcast – way back in 1995 (if you’ve been reading this website, you’ll have known that already – if not, check out our Ted 20 coverage here).
Anyway, co-creator of the seminal comedy Arthur Mathews is dropping by the office here tomorrow afternoon for a chat to talk all things Ted.
We wanted to let our readers know in advance, so you could get your questions in.
Good sport that he is, Arthur’s agreed to spend some time answering the nerdiest Father Ted questions we can all think of.

Ted – yes, I hope people know it’s a parochial house and not just some mad man …

What happened to all the bunnies from the show. Did they go on to bigger and better things ? Or did they end up in a pot.
I heard some died from the smell off jack, another few desperate though they tried couldn’t escape the grips of tom’s vice. (God rest they’re souls) Another handful did indeed end up in a pot along with John and although he escaped with a few bumps and scratches, John and Mary ate them in a rabbit stew that same night.(God rest there souls) Now if you remember Elvis the rabbit? He his best friend Frank and two female rabbit’s (I mis-remember their names) you’ll be happy to know managed to escape all dangers they were exposed to, escaped to a near by field where they (well to put it frankly copulated as their very nature suggests) and raised a family of hundred’s on Ireland’s favourite isle…

Do you think the constant rerunning of Father Ted and other classic comedies detracts from their enjoyment?
@Neal. I think the opposite is the case. I was so-so about it originally. Now, many repeats later, I find it better every time.

What was the plot if of an episode due to be filmed for season 4?
Was there supposed to be another Series? Watched a good bit, of the Documentary, and I’m pretty sure there was no mention of another Series. Died, either at, or after at a Dinner Party, that happened a few hours after the last Episode’s filming. Documentary was very insightful.

Hi Arthur, big fan of your work. My question is “Where do you get your ideas for your sermons?”, tee hee hee.
Seriously though, you wrote the series as a send up of the clergy (an uncle of yours was a priest I think) and those dedicated to Gods work without tackling the large scandals as such. Does the Church still have a place in Irish society for: i) anyone at all ii) people under 50?, iii) In its current form.
If you were Pope for a day what changes, if any, would you affect to religious doctrine to make the Catholic or any Church more relevant or should we all burn the next church we see to the ground and dance around a bit afterwards. (Saying that would be an ecumenical answer is not an acceptable answer)
