Panti has a message for Breda O'Brien

O’Brien said she’d like to face Panti in a public debate.

PANTI BLISS SAYS she has a message for the Iona Institute’s Breda O’Brien: She’d love to talk to her in a public debate – as long as it’s respectful.

The drag performer, whose alter ego is Rory O’Neill, made the comment after O’Brien told the Sunday Independent she would ‘face’ Panti in a respectful public debate.

In response, Panti said on Facebook: “I’m in.”

In January 2014, RTÉ apologised for the ‘distress’ caused by comments by Rory O’Neill about homophobia on an episode of the Saturday night Show.

RTÉ made a payout to members of the Iona Institute, including O’Brien, over the comments.

The incident became known as ‘Pantigate’, with the issue even being debated in the Dáil and the Seanad.

In an interview with the Sunday Independent yesterday, O’Brien said she was forced into “a closet” over the Pantigate affair.

This government seems to have no problem passing laws that have great potential to expose citizens to danger and deny them rights, but when it comes to introducing laws to enhance citizens’ accessibility to social goods, such as housing etc, they find any amount of barriers to use as excuses to do nothing.

@McMahon G: Forty million Canadians wouldn’t agree. I see it as a basic right that people are entitled to ask for. Who would want to suffer needlessly? We wouldn’t do it to a pet.

Funny how evertime ffg are presented with a situation that will clash with Catholic ethos, They deflect and kick the issue down the road. This is cowardice of the highest kind and something a person who claims to be capable enough to represent citizens , Should never do, thats if they had an once of integrity.
