AN OFFICE MANAGER has appeared in court in New York on charges that she posed as a dentist when the real dentist was away, and seriously injured patients after pulling their teeth, performing root canals on them and injecting their mouths, prosecutors said.
Valbona Yzeiraj, who said she trained as a dentist in her native Albania but isn’t licensed or trained in New York, pleaded not guilty in Bronx Supreme Court to five counts of unauthorised practice of a profession, four counts of assault, three counts of reckless endangerment and one count of attempted grand larceny.
One of the patients Yzeiraj treated between late 2012 and the summer of 2013 got an infection after a root canal, and another still feels pain two years after being treated by Yzeiraj, prosecutors said.
Yzeiraj performed on patients at Dr Jeffrey Schoengold’s Ultimate Dental Care of Riverdale in the Bronx while he was away, prosecutors charge. When Schoengold discovered Yzeiraj’s unsanctioned side business, he fired her and she then tried to steal more than $20,000 (€18,500) from him, prosecutors said.
A lawyer for Yzeiraj, 45, didn’t immediately return a message seeking comment. A judge set her bail at $20,000, and she was barred from going near any dental practices during the duration of her case.
Schoengold also didn’t return a message seeking comment.
If convicted, Yzeiraj faces up to seven years in prison.

This is ridiculous. Anyone who grew up in a Latin American household is probably amused (I know I am) by the sudden drama over a fruit which for them is as commonplace as tomatoes are for most people. Ironically tomatoes even came from the same part of the world.

Never eaten an Avocado are they tasty ?

Best left to ripen until they are soft – serve them in halves (personally I haven’t a clue how people manage injure themselves slicing avocados any more than sliciing peaches) with a pinch of salt – they have an almost butter-like texture, which you just scoop out of the shell with a spoon.

I never av a cado
I stopped eating avocados a few months ago and have saved 50,000 euro for a deposit.
Im super hipster, i have my own avovado tree…well plant. Not quite a tree yet.

I used to when I could afford shopping for food . But is rare to see a descent one here . They are weird though purply and way too small not properly mature and tasteless .
Strange . And now a days they may have the odd one normal size
But I don’t do monthly shopping anymore .
I may try to plant me a tree . If the bank don’t take my house in 10 years I will have me an avocado of my own . ( take nine years for first season and one more for a nice one )
Genuine question. I only eat avocado for guacamole. However, the type of avocados here never work. Too tough. The black ones aldi sell are good. So is there a recommended type?
Avocados are disgusting and not worth the hype they get
I would eat avocados if they weren’t unripe and so expensive. Leave them to ripen and the mishandling prior to purchase just results in blackened flesh from the bruising
