Featuring chats between two men over two pints of stout, the Commitments author dissects every day Irish life.
Last week, he took on the upcoming marriage referendum in a post that both incorporated Cristiano Ronaldo and swearing.
That posted has been shared 15,700 times and has over 44,000 likes. This evening, he has returned to the subject and, within an hour, his post has been shared nearly 800 times.
Here’s the post:

-We fuckin’ do. Annyway. There’s a woman there – at the door, like –
an’ she’s talkin’. But I’m still thinkin’, like, I wouldn’t mind bein’ a
dwarf. So it’s a while before I notice the ‘No’ sticker on her jacket – and
her leaflets.
-Oh fuck – leaflets?
-She hands one to me an’ she says, ‘All children deserve their mother.’
So I say, ‘She’s only gone to the shops – for smokes. She’ll be back in a
bit.’ I’m wide awake now, so I say as well, ‘While you’re waitin’, you
could go across to number 78 an’ tell the kids there tha’ they deserve
their mother. Cos she’s in the Joy, playin’ Monopoly with the Scissors
Sisters.
-Is she?
-No – she was cuttin’ the fuckin’ grass. But I’m on a roll now, so I
say, ‘An’ what’s marriage got to do with children? I’ve seven
brilliant grandkids an’ none o’ their parents are married.’
-An’ is tha’ true?
-I’m not sure, to be honest with yeh – I can’t remember. But I say,
‘D’yeh have the Sky Boxsets at home?’ She says she thinks so. So I tell
her, ‘Go on home an’ watch a few episodes o’ Game o’ Thrones. An’
when yeh see wha’ the mothers get up to in tha’ thing yeh won’t be so
quick with your leaflets. An’ don’t,’ I tell her, ‘don’t write it off cos it’s
foreign. Cos it isn’t. It was made in Ireland.’ An’ she says, ‘I know it
was. In Belfast. By Protestants.’

The Green Party in the UK already wants to legislate for 3 person marriages. The slippery slope does exist.
You support their fight for marriage, accept them as an equal yet they still insult you. And then they wonder why people don’t like them, ffs.

Let’s hope we don’t let another red herring, UK Green Party debates, replace relevant debate on the SSM referendum which has nothing to do with tri-partite marriage. SSM will be constituted for two consenting adults in Ireland, just as it always has been!

I thank you if you support our right to marry. You must know that gay people are nervous these weeks. This referendum has a very big impact on the lives of gay people(including my live).
Any chance the journal can just declare they are part of the “YES” deception and dispense with any notion or pretence or journalistic endeavour or impartiality.
THE “YES” DECEPTION
Here’s the problem with the possession idea as boasted by one YES DECEPTION supporter, the idea that a mother might say, leave “my” child alone is anathema to them. They have let the cat out of the bag, we now see, they prefer children to be rootless fatherless, motherless items, with no ancestral ties, no familial ties, no idea of a female mother or male father. They simply see humans as pieces of meat, items, who are interchangeable, whom the state or any person can pick up and have “guardianship” over but especially those who are not able to partake in the creation of a child. They would allow children be denied their right to call Mum and Dad, “THEIR” Mum and “THEIR Dad, they do not want children to be able to say what is “theirs” or to use the term of ownership as understood in parent and child. Instead they want lone pieces of meat, items, objects they can pick up at a store, take home and have it call them Daddy or Mommy. And if those terms of parental and child ownership/belonging are eliminated then the state can also intervene whenever it likes and in any excuse it legislates to interfere and take away the child from “ITS” parents, because they have just described terms of belonging such as “its”, “his”, “their” – all ideas of belonging are invalid and should not be. So then the state can claim, hey, you relinquished your claim on the child, you dont have a say. And we all know what happened children in state care in the UK and their Child Paedophile Services. They are effectively actually making a case for future state paedophilia as happened in the UK and Jersey and their Child Paedophile Services, “children to order” jurisdiction, the “YES deception plays right into the exploitation of children.

Not really, while I will be voting YES because for me it is the right thing to do, I detest the smugness coming from the YES side………..

They could learn about equality by not ripping down posters.
Yes. Odd poster though: Mum, Dad and Baby – especially, when you consider that John Waters, Kathy Sinnott and Petra Conway are all separated parents. In none of their family homes does the man (I say man, because not all were married) live with the mother of their child/children within the same home. Odd to assert that mums and dads matter, but not be there as mum and dad for your children.
