1,080-calorie hotdog-burger (with crisps) will 'appeal to US patriotic spirit'

Jimmy Kimmel said the burger was “like eating a petting zoo”.

ANOTHER MASSIVE ‘TASTE of freedom’ landed (with a thump, no doubt) on the menu of a major US fast food outlet this week.

Carl’s Jr. and Hardee’s are effectively attempting to cram an entire barbecue into one burger…

Their 1,030 calorie burger ‘Most American Thickburger’ consists of :

  • 1 beef patty
  • Topped with a split hot dog
  • A layer of Lay’s potato chips
  • Ketchup and mustard
  • Tomato, red onion, pickles
  • American cheese (of course)

US Fast food chains have been trying to outdo each other with outrageous menu items to stand out in recent years.

Wendy’s, for example, offered a cheeseburger topped with pulled pork last year.

As part of its strategy of targeting 18- to 34-year-old men, Carl’s Jr has been releasing glossy ads starring the likes of Paris Hilton and Kim Kardashian.

The new ‘Thickburger’ has made quite an impact in the US media – late-night host Jimmy Kimmel said it was “like eating a petting zoo” and showed a mock-up of the ad with the fake tagline “It’s time to die”.

How does it taste?

The Guardian’s Tyler Gillespie tried it, and wrote:

My first bite of the burger reminded me of the latest Mad Max, in which Charlize Theron’s character contemplates a 100-plus-day drive over an endless salt plain. The hot dog, it seemed, had taken a similar journey. Around bite three, my chest started to hurt.

    Mick
There are two things in life that cannot be hidden. One is an education and the other is the absence of one!

Tarquin ,hope your reading the comments.. looking up the ISBN which is missing from the above Article I note that the Eason’s Family have put a RRP 38.99 euro (hope you getting a larger percentage from the over price bookstore) and sale price of 29.99. (sorry I just hate when an Irish company goes out of their way to squeeze more money from customers buy altering their prices.)

and your publishing website has it for RRP of 29.99 and sale price of 23.99 So I’ll be ordering from them. :)

I hope to enjoy the read, looks like a good book.

ISBN number is 9781848891852 for those who wish to buy the book.
