6 things to do today that will definitely benefit you tomorrow

Go on. Be your own best pal today.

THOUGH WE ALL try to live in the present, we can’t forget that tomorrow is another day. But that day can dawn pretty bright if we do a few things to help ourselves out. Think of it as “Past You” helping out “Future You”. Kind of like Marty McFly, except with more sensible planning and less Deloreans. Enough said. Here are the small, easy ways that you can improve all of your tomorrows…

1. Water under the bridge

Ah, the old glass of water before bed trick. A tale as old as time. You should be aiming for about eight glasses of water per day to keep yourself running at tip-top shape, so a glass of H20 before you turn in tonight is never a bad idea.

2. Mind yourself, now

Practising a small amount of mindfulness every day – with handy apps for your phone like Headspace – will make you happier and more content in the long-term. You’ll thank yourself later.

3. So fresh and so clean, clean

A ground-breaking thought: change your sheets in the morning before work, and arrive home to a freshly-made bed in the evening, without any of the effort. Beautiful.

4. Clear off

Had friends over? Clearing up the night before is FAR preferable to waking up to a messy house in the morning. Do yourself a solid and get it over with sooner rather than later.

5. Fail to prepare…

Prepare to fail. When it comes to healthy eating, prep is your friend. Getting lunchboxes of ingredients or frozen dinners organised on Sunday night means that you don’t reach for takeaways when you hit the Wednesday mid-week slump.

6. Face/off

This is more one for the ladies: taking your make-up off before you hit the hay might seem like faff when you’re tired, but it will absolutely stand to you long-term. Go on. Go on.
