Family of couple who disappeared in April appeal for information

It is feared they have been murdered.

THE FAMILY OF a couple who went missing in Meath last month has launched a fresh appeal for information.

Willie Maughan (34) and Anna Varslavane (20) went missing from the Gormanston area of County Meath on Tuesday, 14 April.

Willie was due to meet his mother Helen at 3pm that day. She became concerned when he didn’t show up at the agreed time.

The couple had been living in a mobile home in Gormanston and were planning to move in with Willie’s family in Tallaght the day they went missing.

They have not been seen since – or used their phones or bankcards. Anna’s passport is with Gardaí in Meath. She is originally from Latvia, but has been living in Ireland for a number of years.

Since the couple went missing, searches have been conducted in various counties – with farmers checking their land and out buildings in Louth, Dublin and Meath.

Willie’s father Joe told the Irish Independent he thinks his son and partner have been killed because Willie knew too much about a gangland murder.

Maughan’s family is set to make a renewed appeal for information on Crimecall on RTÉ One tonight.

The family has been living in Tallaght for 35 years. Joe runs a mini bus business in the area and also founded the Sacred Heart Football Club.

Anyone with information is asked to contact Ashbourne Garda Station 01-8010600 or the Garda Confidential Line 1800 666 111.

Have you seen this couple? They have been missing since last Tuesday

This is a seriously disturbing and frightening situation. If anyone did anything to this couple hunt them down and make them pay with solitary confinement for rest of lives. Please god they are just hiding! Anyone in criminal world with nothing to do with this need to rat big time if they have been killed. Just to save themselves from few years in prison which they are probably already used to they murder an innocent couple. Hope you rot in hell! Still holding out for hope they are hiding. Thoughts and prayers with them and their families xx

Or, they are in witness protection and it suits everybody to think they are dead / lying low.
