BARRY COWEN REMAINS close to his brother Brian and talks to him “fairly regularly”.
The Laois-Offaly TD told us this week that the former taoiseach, who he lives close to, is “fine” and “very keen” to appear before the banking inquiry on 2 and 8 July.
But will we learn anything new from Brian Cowen when he breaks his silence on the events leading up to and including the bank guarantee of September 2008?
Barry Cowen told TheJournal.ie this week that he doesn’t necessarily think we will. He added:
But whatever questions are put to him he won’t be found wanting in putting an answer on the record.
Separately, we asked Cowen if he would ever be interested in following in his brother’s footsteps and leading Fianna Fáil.

But DOB spokesperson is claiming someone stole those documents and changed them. O’Brien’s spokesperson James Morissey told This Week on RTÉ Radio 1 that Murphy’s speech was based on documents that were stolen from IBRC and altered: so up to last week when Catherine Murphy raised this. Why didn’t Alan dukes or government raise concerns over stolen documents. Bit strange that.

Brian Cowen is not a person who deserve any symphony. When debating in the Dail he showed his true nasty nature which we have not forgotten. I wonder what will he say when called to testify at the banking enquiry, perhaps; ” it wasn’t my fault, Bertie made me do it”, or “sure, didn’t the whole world economy collapse, what was I to do”, or maybe “I was acting under advise from ‘experts’ at the central bank and department if finance”.
In any case BIFO doesn’t give a shit what you or I think, the pension is safe & index-linked, and the new job with DO’B at Topaz is a ‘nice little little earner’. But in a way, I have to admire a person with the cunning and ability to play the gullible Offaly voters for a sucker, time and time again. He would probably get elected again were he to stand, but Barry would not be too happy about that.
