Poll: How healthy are your eating habits? (Be honest)

Give us your best healthy eating tips…

WE’VE BEEN ON a bit of a health buzz lately.

We’ve asked about your eating habits here and the difference between permaculture and organics here.

Emma Christensen Emma Christensen

Now we want to know – how healthy are your eating habits?

Before you get going, we’ve rounded up a few healthy eating tips we’ve picked up in our extensive research.

We all know about getting our five-a-day in, but it can be hard to consume that much fruit and vegetables in one day, so our first tip is all about sneaking additional goodness into your diet so you can get to five-a-day in no time at all.

Denna Jones Denna Jones

  • Top your cereal (or even better, porridge) with fruit and nuts for some Vitamin C as well as protein, magnesium and good fats from the nuts
  • Make cauliflower rice or couscous and use instead of actual rice or couscous for a lower carb, sneaky veg side to your dinner
  • Pasta made from vegetables is also a good way to cut carbs and add veg – here’s a recipe for courgette pasta
  • Keep nuts on your desk or in your bag for a snack that’ll keep you full during the day, and prevent that 3pm slump.

Another way to get on track with making healthier choices is to prepare your food in advance. We found this video prepping a week’s worth of food for two people in about two hours – which we will definitely try some day…definitely.

BakingMadGymAddict / YouTube

Now, over to you – tell us, how healthily do you eat, really?

I heard somewhere that if you want to lose weight take a look at your liquid calories ie soft drinks, coke, alcohol etc.. I think that’s why a lot of us are carrying a few extra kgs..

I think you’ll find that the humble Irish Coffee is the perfect food (in liquid form). It has all four main food groups: alcohol, fat, sugar and caffeine.

I eat pretty healthily most of the time. But the food in that video just looks sad and bland. I would die of boredom if I ate that food all day every day. You can eat healthily without relying on bland chicken + steamed veg. Looking at her meals is actually making me depressed right now.

Monday to Friday is the easy bit if you bring food to work. The weekend is when it all falls apart and a takeaway of some sort is needed!

Clark, that’s my modus operandi…..try to be good during the week and bring something halfway decent to work for lunch and not be tempted to buy rubbish….weekends are a free for all, both with the food and the drink! You only live once and there has to be some enjoyment in it, otherwise you’d be better off dead.

I think if you didn’t eat nutritional meals as a youngster yourself & I’m not talking tofu & steamed broccoli, but generally some form of meat, veg & potato, you’re less likely to consume those meal types in later life. This is creating the chain of bad eating that we are currently witnessing.

Reality is subjective – the poll represents what people think they do. Most people probably think they “make an effort”….
To some this might mean having a diet coke with their big mac, or reducing their weekly alcohol intake from 20 pints to 15.
Whereas to others it could mean eating salads every day and having the odd bar of chocolate here and there :)

The truth is I felt so trapped with all those diets I tried before. Its like every single time I was let down because I just ended up gaining the weight back again.

I was so busy with work as a full-time nutritionist and full time mom to boot; that it seemed there was no plan that fit my busy schedule and needs.

Well, its been over two months and I’m not looking back. I have now lost over 25 pounds and continue to lose. I think I’ll have to slow down or I’ll be too skinny! I’ve found the key to rapid weight loss without the dangers of pills.

If you want more information about how this plan can change YOUR life like it has mine see my review here http://truehealthreport.com/2015/05/24/4-cycle-fat-loss-fat-burning-diet/
