THE BROTHER OF a man killed in this week’s sewer pipe accident in Portmarnock has died in hospital, gardaí have confirmed.
34-year-old Stephen Harris passed away in Beaumont at 9am this morning.
Stephen’s older brother, Alan Harris, was pronounced dead in the wake of the accident, on Wednesday of this week.
The two men, from drain-clearing and service firm Draintech, were overcome by fumes as they responded to a call out in the north Dublin suburb on Wednesday afternoon.
Three firefighters who attended the scene were also hospitalised in the wake of the emergency – but were discharged later the same day.
Separate Garda and Health & Safety Authority investigations are under way.
The two men were working on a sewer in Drumnigh Wood, when they got into difficulty.
Footballer Robbie Keane, a cousin of the two men, paid tribute to them last night.
“The family of the late Mr. Harris have requested that their privacy be respected at this time of grief,” Gardaí said in a statement this morning.

@Darragh Canavan: Are you a victim of sexual violence? If you are, speak for yourself. And avoid speaking on behalf of all other victims of sexual violence. Some cases will never return a conviction of guilty, it doesn’t mean a crime wasn’t committed, it simply means the burden of proof wasn’t satisfied.

@Darragh Canavan: Everything that is being reported about people in the entertainment industry (in the US) are not just random incidents of someone accusing someone else on social media and walking away. They are victims coming forward, either having been approached by the investigating journalists, or having volunteered their story because of published articles. Their stories are being supported through numerous sources & historical references to behaviour. Because of these articles and disclosures, relevant authorities have commenced investigations. We have courts to try criminal and civil cases. And everyone knows, a not guilty verdict does not mean the defendent didn’t commit the crime, especially given the immemse difficulty in securing a conviction for a sexually based crime.

The ole flood gates are open now. I would say sexual harassment goes through the core of Hollywood. And I would imagine it happens to both sexes , not just the ladies. Hopefully there’ll be a serious change in attitude.

This kinda horrible sexism and sexual harassment is going on in Hollywood since the 1st bit of film was shot. It’s endemic there I’d say.
But remember….. its not exclusive to the USA film industry. There are many men with money and power who are treating vulnerable women as pieces of meat.
