FOR SOME INEXPLICABLE reason, there’s an entire genre of videos on YouTube of people smashing up expensive goods.
Apple products in particular have proven to be weirdly smashable, ending up in blenders, being dropped from a height or put in a lava lamp.
Now people have got two extremely powerful neodymium magnets and put a gold Apple Watch worth around €9,000 between them – and watched what happened next when the watch came up against 650 pounds of force.
Somehow, the watch still had a bit of life left in it at the end.

That’s really misleading. I thought it might be torn apart by electromagnets or something. Could have just said “watch what happens when you thump an Apple iWatch with a lump hammer”

Try putting an old Nokia phone in there.
The magnets would be destroyed and the phone would still have a week worth of charge left in it.
So this guy spends 9k on a watch, spends the first few minutes telling us how genuine it is and then destroys it? Too much time and money to play with…
These kinds of channels rarely, if ever, pay for the products themselves. If the channel becomes big enough, companies will send them their products to test and make videos with as a sort of product promo. If you saw an ad for an Apple Watch on television you’re probably not going to bring it up in conversation with your mates down the pub, but a lot of people would chat about a video in which an Apple Watch is smashed between two strong magnets. It’s marketing.

There’s an awful lot of money to be made from youtube videos… They’ll do better than 9k
Particularly when we’re duped into watching crap like this by sites like this.
Alternative title for this ‘article’ could be: “Apples’s amazing watch meets the inexplicable forces of mature, what happens next will astound you!”

Nice people have 9k to throw away even if they make it back. Quite sickening. We already know not to break expensive delicate items unless its by accident
