FOUR YEAR OLD Sebastian from Ballina, Co Tipperary has passed away after battling a brain tumour.
Last month his family brought forward Christmas Day after they received news that Sebastian had just weeks left to live.
Sebastian first started feeling sick in January and a brain tumour was found on the back of his head.
He recovered well from surgery and doctors thought they got everything off the main tumour. However, it returned just weeks later.
Last month his Dad Conor told The Ray D’Arcy show on RTÉ Radio One that his family were originally told they had months left with Sebastian but doctors soon realised they actually only had weeks.
That’s when they decided to create a final Christmas for their son as it was his favourite time of the year. Conor said:
Sebastian really loves Christmas like any child. It’s his favourite time of the year. He looks forward to it from one end of the year to the other.
Hundreds of listeners to the show helped create a special day for Sebastian.
Today Ray D’Arcy informed his listeners that little Sebastian had passed away and thanked people for their help in creating Christmas last month.
“We were blown away with the outpouring of generousity…there was a real sense community.
It felt like the whole country was giving Sebastian a big hug.
“It’s with a heavy heart and a horrible sadness I have to tell you that poor little Sebastian passed away earlier today.
“We’d like to pass on our sincere condolences to his family…may he rest in peace.”

Fcuk brain tumours and fcuk cancer! You couldn’t begin to imagine the pain families go through. I remember entering Crumlin for the first time. It would really shock you, not because of the sick children. They are all smiles and you’d think they were grand. It’s the parents faces that have dread in them. Regardless of their income or influence they were all in the same boat. You wouldn’t wish it on the most evil of people.
It was great to see everyone volunteer so willingly to make his special Christmas day come true.
RIP little man. You and your lovely family touched many hearts.

Oh that poor family. Such wonderfully warm and caring people who did everything for this little man to fill his time with fun. I can’t imagine how they feel. But I think i know what the country thinks about them. Models of what a loving family should be in the worst of times. I have so much respect for them. RIP.

My heart breaks reading this, what a brave little boy and what inspirational parents he has, i honestly can’t imagine how they handled the last few months, it’s unbearable to lose a child, the whole country is grieving with them today as Sebastian has touched the hearts of the whole country, RIP little man, hope every day is Christmas in heaven for u xx

I’m a very new contributer to this site Paddy and it both amazed and sickened me at first. Now I realise that there are some people out there that just do this for sh!ts n giggles. Sad individuals and now I just ignore it. Modern medicine has advanced so much in the last thirty years but it still can’t cure stupid!!
