How well do you know your James Bond movies?

With a new Bond flick on the way there’s even talk of who the next 007 will be. What better reason for testing your knowledge of some serious Bond trivia.

THERE’S A NEW James Bond movie on the way, with Daniel Craig donning the tux for his fourth outing as the silver-tongued lothario in the upcoming Spectre.

Even more importantly, speculation is currently rife as to who the next Bond might be. It could be the first ever black Bond if Idris Elba wins out. Or – shudder – the first ever ginger 007 if Damian Lewis emerges victorious.

With all that going on, what better time than now to test just how well our readers know their James Bond movies.

That’s right – it’s the great TheJournal.ie James Bond quiz!

A nice easy one to start things off, how many (official) screen James Bonds have there been?

It could be – shudder – the first ever black bond if Idris Elba wins out. Or the first ever ginger 007 if Damien Lewis emerges victorious.

Imagine the reaction if the second couple of sentences had been written instead, yet to my mind what was actually written is just as bad. I have a red haired nephew – good looking young fella – and I often wonder how it must be for his young, fragile ego to have to hear and read sh*t like this and for it to be deemed so acceptable and humerous.

I agree. Damien Lewis is an excellent actor with just the right touch of menace to make a credible Bond. Idris Elba is a fantastic actor, but unsuitable for the part because of his race. There, I’ve said it! if you read the original books and consider them in their context a black man would not have attained the rank of commander in the British navy, nor been recruited as an agent. As to the “ginger ” thing – why don’t people grow up? although dark haired myself (before it turned grey), I have always found red hair attractive. I think the legendary bad temper associated with red hair comes from constant slagging by apes over hair colour.

James Bond is a code name, it’s not the agents real name, so I see no reason why Idris Elba can’t be Bond. I’d prefer him over Lewis anyway.

Have to disagree with you about For Your Eyes Only. I always felt that after the excesses of Moonraker, FYEO was a far more grounded film in the tradition of the older films. There’s still silliness there no doubt but it has some great set pieces coupled with one of Moore’s coldest moments as Bond where he kicks the guys car off the ledge.. As for A View To A Kill, it’s worth it alone for the pure 100% 80′s glory that is the theme song!
