LESS THAN 14 hours after nine black people were shot dead at a historic church in South Carolina, suspect Dylann Roof was arrested by police officers.
Roof was arrested in Selby, North Carolina, about 250 miles from Charleston where the shootings took place.
Dashcam footage of the arrest has now been published by a local news outlet and shows the small town officers first approaching Roof’s car with guns drawn.
Then, as Roof submitted to several searches, the atmosphere appears to calm and the officers are even seeing high-fiving each other.
“Stunned”
Shelby police Chief Jeff Ledford told Yahoo News that he was “stunned” when he heard that Roof was arrested in the small town.
The suspect’s black Hyundai was spotted in the town and police organised a traffic stop involving a team of officers in case something happened.
“The planning was done as they were getting prepared to stop him,” Ledford said.
When dealing with someone who may not have a lot to lose, you always worry about what they may do and what dangers they present.
Roof has been charged with nine murders, and the state’s governor has called for him to face the death penalty if convicted.

Washington accuses the cartel of exploiting the opioid epidemic and introducing fentanyl yet they created the market with a series of laws making it near impossible for doctors to prescribe opioids. The rug was pulled from chronic pain patients and anyone with a prescription opioid addiction overnight. In the years following, the black market predictably exploded and just as predictably, so have the deaths which continue to rise year on year at a staggering rate. This is what happens when we create unregulated markets for criminals gangs to run and profit from. At some point we’re going to have to grow up and accept that the war on drugs is a failure on every conceivable level. Drugs won and huge numbers are dying while we wait for politicians to catch up. It’s obscene and it’s criminal.
