DUBLIN CITY COUNCIL has confirmed that a car used to transport the city’s Lord Mayor to and from events was clamped outside the offices of the city council today.
This afternoon, the Irishtown House Twitter account posted this picture of a Volvo S80, with registration 151-D-1, parked and clamped outside the council offices on Wood Quay in the city centre.
A spokesperson for Dublin City Council later confirmed that the car is used to transport the Lord Mayor of Dublin to and from her appointments.
They added that the picture is believed to have been taken earlier today.
The current Lord Mayor of Dublin is Sinn Féin’s Críona Ní Dhálaigh, who was elected to the position last week.
The party referred queries to the Dublin City Council press office.

the mayor is the first citizen of dublin and should by example follow the rules of the city, I hope she paid the fine just like everyone else. anything less is political fraud.

If you Park in a non parking zone then you are in the wrong I do see them every day double parking if the shop doors were big enough the lazy buggers would drive into the shop I watched a big hefty guy parking in a disabled zone walk away from his Merc without a care in the world I hope he was clamped.

So, what’s Sinn Féin doing having a “Lord” Mayor? Dublin has had a “Mayor” for far longer than it has had a “Lord Mayor”, the latter an add-on from the British royalist cult. The usual old ignorant West Brit types wouldn’t know that, though.
It seems when it comes to British royalist titles and royalist street and placenames in Dublin, we should “accept the past”, meaning accept *their* past, *their* elitist colonial cult and *their* heroes of *their* empire. No thanks. Shame on Sinn Féin for taking the soup when they have the necessary votes in Dublin City Council to revert the title from its current royalist one back to its original one of ‘Mayor’.
