The northside Luas is back up and running...

The service had been suspended between Abbey and Liffey Streets after overhead wires came loose at Jervis Street.

THE RED LINE Luas service in Dublin is back up and running on the city’s northside.

The earlier disruption was down to overhead power lines coming loose at Jervis Street.

A Luas spokesman told TheJournal.ie earlier that they expected to have the service back running by this evening.

“The lines have been fixed now,” he said.

They had come loose from the building they were connected to but that’s all fixed now.
Unfortunately a tram is still stuck in place at the site and needs to be moved. As soon as it is the full service will resume.

How can the Red Line be described as the ‘Northside’ Luas.? At least 95 percent of its track is on the southside

So there’s genuine national self-loathing because a tram is out of service for a few hours?

They don’t hate themselves like this in other countries

The Northside last? ..lol. …I Was in lyon last weekend and when I saw their amazing transport system for a city of similar size to Dublin I was very embarrassed. …cheap too. Their politicians and mayor work for their City not for themselves

You remember the immense cock up the Port Tunnel has been? Wrong size, leaking substantial amounts of water, fire safety systems failing and the tunnel still being allowed to operate. And you think we’d be capable of building and running and safe and efficient underground train system?

You’d think they could have found an extra few billion euro lying around somewhere to save on the Luas being held up a bit every week or two.

The overhead power lines were loose! how loose? there’s a fair bit of juice in them, they ain’t supposed to come loose. The dart overhead lines have 1500 volts dc in them. What has the luas got? are there breakers to cut the power if they come down? This story is very vague.
