POLICE ARE INVESTIGATING the attempted hijacking of a car in Banbridge County Down in the early hours of this morning.
At around midnight a male motorist was flagged down by two male pedestrians in the Peggys Loaning area of Banbridge.
The driver pulled over and the believed hitch-hikers asked the driver to take them into Banbridge town centre which the driver agreed to do.
Passengers became aggressive
Once inside the car, however, the two males became threatening and aggressive and demanded that the driver take them to Hilltown. The driver took them to Hilltown where an attempt was then made to take the car from him at Rathfriland Road.
Passers-by in the area saw what was happening and came to the driver’s assistance.
The two men made off across nearby fields. The driver was not physically injured during the incident but he was left badly shaken.
Detective Inspector David Henderson has appealed to anyone with any information about this incident to contact detectives at Newry on 101 quoting reference 31250715 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.

I arrived in Tralee station on Monday.
A lady asked me about getting to the Rose Hotel.
She is married in Denmark for 50 years and was with her grand-daughter (age about 13). I expect the grand-daughter will be the Danish Rose in 10 years time.
By good fortune, I had my car at the station and gave them a lift.
There is a great atmosphere around the town for the Rose festival.

Whatever about the tv part, had some great nights in Tralee during the festival.many years ago. One highlight was after they used to finish in the Dome, it would become a nightclub. We were queuing to get in when uncle gaybo was being chaffuered slowly by. Someone shouted give us a wave at him. No response. A blizzard of cans and bottles landed on his car moments later.

By far the best TV produced by RTE in the last few decades. I think they should do a live program THE ROSE HOUSE featuring cooking, sewing etc and lots of other wholesome fun activities. A bit like Big Brother without all the smut. And if all goes well they could do a big Panto at Christmas
