GARDAÍ ARE INVESTIGATING the origins of a viral video showing a cyclist apparently being pushed from his bicycle by a man hanging from a moving car.
The video, the original online post of which has been viewed more than 700,000 times, shows what appears to be mobile phone footage of the incident.
The video has been removed from Facebook but can still be found easily online. It shows a man in a striped shirt leaning from a car travelling at speed.
Someone says “right boys, this is the new challenge here”. Then the man shoves a mounted cyclist from his saddle. The video then shows the aftermath of the incident for the unfortunate cyclist who lies face-down at the top of a ditch while laughing takes over the car.
The man who posted the video on Facebook insists that it wasn’t him who pushed the cyclist.
Gardaí have taken to Twitter to implore people not to post the seven-second video further online, whilst asking anyone with information to contact their helpline.
Speaking to TheJournal.ie a Garda spokesman confirmed that the force is aware of the video and that they are investigating.
“We don’t know where it happened, or even if it did happen – it’s hard to place accuracy on things like this that are coming from social media,” the spokesman said.
A number of Garda divisions are involved in looking into this.

It’s not good news though for anyone not a FG supporter, With Shatter, Reilly and Kelly gone, it makes the party a lot more palatable for the electorate. Stick someone like Varadkar as leader and you have a party that will appeal to the masses.
You’d want the likes of Shatter, Kelly, Reilly in there if you’re not a FGer.
