PARTS OF GALWAY city are flooded tonight, including the Salthill Promenade, as the West contends with heavy rain and high winds.
Met Éireann has issued a new yellow warning tonight for high winds in Atlantic coastal areas and south coasts.
Southerly winds veering southwesterly will reach mean speeds of 45 to 65 km/hr (28 to 37 mph) and gusts of 80 to 100 km/hr (50 to 62 mph).
The warning, in place from 9pm tonight until 6am on Tuesday morning, specifies that winds will be strongest on northwest coasts and early tonight.
Galway city and surrounding areas appear to have been especially badly hit, with flooding in Salthill, due to rain and high winds along the water, as shown in these videos.
There appear to have been road closures in parts of the city, due to flooding in Salthill and Oranmore.
Further north, there is flooding in and around Belmullet, and AA Roadwatch is warning motorists of dangerous driving conditions.
Earlier in the day, Met Éireann had enacted a 9am-9pm status yellow warning for high winds along the entire Atlantic coast, but has since essentially renewed that alert for tonight.

The amount of wind and rain especially in the west has trebled in recent years and the deniers still think its a illusion and do their best to stop measures to slow down climate change such as windmills. EL Nino boosted by climate change is going to be one of the most powerful ever and likely to have a major impact on out Winter weather Jan to Feb next year.
