Gardaí launch investigation after cyclist killed in hit-and-run

The 61-year-old was cycling along a road in Kildare when he was fatally injured.

A MAN WAS killed in a hit-and-run accident last night near Carbury, Co Kildare.

The 61-year-old was cycling along the Kinnegad to Edenderry road around three miles from Carbury when he collided with a vehicle, which then drove off. The man was fatally injured, and was taken to Naas General Hospital by emergency services.

Gardaí have launched an investigation of the incident and the road is currently closed for forensic collision examination. Diversions are in place.

Witnesses to the incident, or anyone who may have seen the cyclist on the road, are asked to contact Leixlip gardaí on 01 6667800.
