Fire brigade rescues 45 tourists from River Liffey boat

These visitors got a unique tour…

Updated 8.14pm

TOURISTS ON A River Liffey cruise boat this afternoon are getting a bit more action than they bargained for as they were rescued by the fire brigade.

Images from the scene show the boat was stranded near a low section of the Millennium Bridge.

Barry Finnegan Barry Finnegan

John O’Neill, manager of Dublin Discovered Boat Tours told TheJournal.ie that the vessel broke down and was brought safely to the quay wall by the skipper.

The crew called in the the fire brigade to help get passengers off the boat.

The bridge has been closed off and Dublin Fire Bridgade swift water rescue crews from Tara Street and Phibsboro attended.

O’Neill said none of the passengers on board were in any danger and his staff “followed training and procedures by bringing in Dublin Fire Brigade”.

The remaining sailings this afternoon were cancelled and tomorrow’s sailings have also been cancelled as the company investigates the cause of the failure.

Well why ever way they handle trump regarding the files he kept they will have to do exact same with Biden if not worse so that they can’t be accused of going easy on one and not the other.

@Peter: So far it appears that the circumstances and the response of Biden’s staff are very different from Trump and his staff, but it is just as much about public perception, as legality and regulations. These two batches of Biden’s classified documents have definitely made things easier for Trump. If there are any more discoveries, it could become very difficult to prosecute Trump and retain public support.

@David A. Murray:If there is ever a court case, it’s unlikely to be specifically about the docs but about the Obstruction of Justice for concealing the docs, as defined in the original warrent.

The big difference is that while Biden’s own team found these documents and handed them over, Trump refused this and had to be forced to do so.

@Thomas Harrington: Trump is always hell-bent on picking any fight with the so-called establishment, so in that sense his refusal was hardly surprising was it.

@Mick Tobin: Maybe so but Thomas’ point still stands, they’re all bent. Matters not the side you support.

@Mick Tobin: The truth is that we don’t know who actually found the documents in the first instance and the fact that Bidens legal team are now attempting to manage the situation, by making it look like part of an ongoing process and by carrying out searches on other locations to see what other classified documents Biden left lying around over the last number of decades, this only indicates that they are currently engaging in damage control.
