6 decadent desserts to devour - just because...

Because it’s Friday, the weekend, or you just deserve it. We’re not here to judge.

THERE COMES A time in all our lives that only the most decadent of desserts will do.

Whether it’s because you’re hosting a dinner party and you want the ultimate final course, or you’re in charge of dessert and want to wow everyone.

Or, because it’s Friday and you deserve it.

There’s no judgements here.

Either way, we’ve rounded up six of the most deliciously decadent desserts we could find.

Enjoy.

Mascarpone lemon cream cake

Deirdre Deirdre

This is a showstopper of a cake, and light enough that your guests can have seconds – although you might not want to oblige them.

It’s two sponge cakes each cut in half (or you could use 4 smaller tins if your knife hand isn’t that steady) and filled with a mascarpone lemon cream.

Here’s the recipe.

Chocolate tarte

Rosie Rosie

This is a healthy recipe. Healthy.

Or… as healthy as a tarte choc full of chocolate can be. It is wheat free though, and could be dairy free depending on the chocolate you use, so that’s something.

It looks impressive, but it’s pretty easy to make. Win win.

We’ve got the recipe right here. Remember, it’s healthy.

Lavender rose cake or cupcakes

Wordpress Wordpress

Now this is something really fancy. It’s more of a cake you’d make if there was an anniversary party or a wedding – it’s probably not dinner party worthy. Although, maybe you’re that fancy.

What do we know?

Janine Janine

However, if you want to make something that tastes similar and won’t challenge your icing skills in quite the same way, there’s a cupcake version right here that has all the flavour and wow factor and less of the fear that you won’t get those iced roses right.

 Cherry and white chocolate tiramisu

Deirdre Deirdre

Now, Italians would no doubt throw their hands up in horror at this being called tiramisu – at the very least because there’s no coffee in it.

But we don’t care. It’s really easy to assemble, you can make it in advance and it looks fierce fancy altogether.

White chocolate mousse with raspberries

The Apprentice Gourmet The Apprentice Gourmet

White chocolate and raspberry has got to be a classic combination and a mousse is an impressive dessert to bring forth at any meal.

Again, it’s a great one to make in advance and have ready to whip out at the moment you’re most looking for kudos.

The recipe’s right here.

 Double ginger cake

I Can Has Cook? I Can Has Cook?

Now here’s a cake that’s not ludicrously sweet and is easy to make. Topping it off with some lightly whipped cream, after pulling it straight out of the oven – delish.

Your guests will thank you, your stock will rise, and you don’t have to tell anyone you got the recipes here….

Have we got those tastebuds tingling? Will you be trying any of these at the weekend? Let us know in the comments below.

Sad for the staff but as usual they are often the last to know…speaking from experience!

‘liquidators intend on paying salaries up until the end of this month’

Yet the hospital is to stay open until in some form up until the 7/8/9 of Feb?

Confused by this situation, no guarantee that staff will be paid for working next week?

    That’s not irony.
