PEOPLE TRAVELLING VIA Heuston train station in Dublin this evening experienced delays of up to 50 minutes for their journeys.
The delays were due to the 5pm Heuston-Cork train breaking down at Inchicore.

At 6.20pm this evening Irish Rail said trains were departing with 5-20 minute delays, though it added these would ease throughout the evening. Services from Tralee were still experiencing 50 minute delays.

The days of single engine loco hauled passenger trains are numbered. A single breakdown creates utter havoc. DMUs are much much more reliable. Pity there is feck all heavy goods work to retire the relatively new 201 class locos to.
A few months ago there the Journal was telling us about a tourist hotel train that was going to go around the country and you could sleep on it. Whatever happened or is this it and it is stopped for a sleep over

20 – 40 min delay? How about an hour!!!
you can’t rely on public transport in this country. Its an utter farce!! Never on time regardless of breakdowns.
