OUR BIRTHDAY GIVEAWAY: Win a pair of Dr Marten boots worth €125 from Walkshoes.ie

TheJournal.ie is five years old this month so we’re giving readers the chance to win some great prizes.

THIS MONTH, TheJournal.ie turns five years old – and we want to give something back to our readers.

Every single day for the month of October we’re giving away a different prize. It’s our way of saying a very big thanks to all of you for reading us (can you believe it’s been five years? Cos we can’t).

From small beginnings back in October 2010, TheJournal.ie has grown to be one of the biggest news websites in the country.

So what about today’s prize? Well, it’s a nice one.

Three winners will each get a pair of Dr Marten Pascal 1460 boots worth €125, courtesy of walkshoes.ie, an award-winning Irish shoe store which offers a diverse collection of the design classic that is Dr Martens.

The boots are the latest model of Dr Martens and the winners can each choose the colour they want the boots to come in.

To win all you have to do is email competitions@thejournal.ie by 11.59pm tonight with WALKSHOES DR MARTENS  in the subject line. Include your name and contact number so we can give you a call if you win.

The three winners will be chosen at random from all the entries and will be notified either by email or by phone.

And if you’re tempted to buy a pair, here’s a little added something: the first 50 people who buy online from walkshoes.ie get a book worth €35 called ‘Dr Martens: A History of Rebellious Self-Expression’. All you have to do is enter the following code when you’re buying them: standforsomething.

Good luck everyone!

And stay tuned – we’re going to have prizes up for grabs every single day this month. We’re good like that.

The small print: We won’t use your email address or phone number to contact you unless you win. The names of all competition winners will be published on TheJournal.ie. Think of us when you’re enjoying your lovely new boots.

I know this is a copy and paste from Press Association but please, Journal.ie, the name Derry is just fine.Your Irish readers don’t need to see the “official” name in the first paragraph.

No, simply calling it Derry is not fine. Both sides need recognition so it’s Londonderry, Derry/Londonderry, L/Derry, Stroke City or something similar. Really annoying when rte refer to it only as Derry without also mentioning the correct official name of Londonderry.

@Richard Ahern: It’s almost as annoying as someone using rte instead of RTÉ, Raidió Teilifís Éireann, the correct official name of the broadcaster. Fadas matter!

@Joe x: looks like someone took offence to my suggestion of holding back salaries until Stormobt is reestablished and they are doing the jobs they are elected to do…..represent their constituents
