A MAN HAS been arrested for speeding after he posted a video of himself in the act on Facebook driving at 184 kilometres an hour.
Police in Spain said the 24-second video begins by showing the speedometer of the car and then pans away to a young woman sitting beside the driver who sticks out her tongue and two smiling young men in the back seats.
The voice of a man howling can be heard in the background.
Malaga
After a “close analysis” of the images, police concluded the car was driving on a stretch of the A-7 highway near the southern city of Malaga where the speed limit is set at 80 kilometres an hour, police said in a statement.
Police tracked down the driver of the car and detained him and fined one of the passengers who is seen in the video without his seatbelt on, the statement added.
The authorities said the video appears to have been posted on Facebook by one of the passengers of the car.
The driver of the car faces charges of posing a danger to the road safety of others due to excessive speed.

Good. The police may have saved lives here. This lad will think twice before doing this again. I know I did stupid things as a young driver. As a parent now I hope my children gets caught if speeding. Realise the worry my parents went through when I started driving.

3 penalty points for going more than 2kphr over speed limit is just ridiculous though, do this 4 times within space of 36 months and you’re banned for 6 months, government need to change the system that if you’re doing 10% or less over speed limit just a fine and more than 10% penalty points and fine
5% on a clear streach of dual carraigeway a fine?

A lot of Spanish drivers are born with a death wish!
Gus, I disagree, Spanish drivers are much better drivers than any you will find on Irish Roads. Spanish Truck drivers are streets ahead too and do not tail gate like a lot of our guys. I much prefer to drive in Spain than in Ireland any day !
I thought the same as you, Gus. My memories of Spanish drivers from about 10 years ago was awful. I spent a few days driving in Spain last month and I was amazed at the difference. Much better drivers than the Irish.
