FORMER REPUBLICAN GOVERNOR of California Arnold Schwarzenegger is taking over from Donald Trump as host of the US Celebrity Apprentice on NBC for the upcoming 2016-2017 series.
“We are thrilled to be opening a powerful new chapter in the story of the Apprentice franchise,” Paul Telegdy of NBC Entertainment said in a press release.
“Arnold Schwarzenegger is the epitome of a global brand in entertainment and business, and his accomplishments in the political arena speak for themselves.
“It was Arnold’s personal passion for the format that Mark Burnett and Donald Trump built over the last decade, as well as his fresh take on how to take it to new heights for today’s audiences, that made him the man to hire.”
Of course, the press material included the obligatory nod to the former politician’s movie career – noting:
“The Celebrity Apprentice … will be back!”
Here’s what Arnie had to say about it:
“I have always been a huge fan of The Celebrity Apprentice and the way it showcases the challenges and triumphs of business and teamwork.
“I am thrilled to bring my experience to the boardroom and to continue to raise millions for charity. Let’s get started!”
NBC cut ties with Trump after the businessman-turned-White-House-hopeful referred to Mexicans as ‘rapists’ during his campaign launch.
“At NBC, respect and dignity for all people are cornerstones of our values,” the network said at the time.

I’m sure they’ll put an incredibly original spin on things by having Arnold say “you’re terminated” instead of “you’re fired”. It’ll be brilliant.
I read the headline and somehow knew it wouldn’t be Gerry Adams.
