'I'm not the pink elephant in the room': Chris Brown wants to talk about domestic violence

The singer assaulted his then-girlfriend Rihanna in 2009.

CHRIS BROWN HAS said he wants to go to Australia to discuss domestic violence.

The US singer made the comments on Twitter after reports emerged he is unlikely to be given a visa to perform in Australia because of his domestic abuse record.

In 2009, Brown pleaded guilty to assaulting his then-girlfriend Rihanna.

The BBC is reporting he was told on Sunday he had 28 days to appeal against the decision.

He has toured Australia twice since the attack on Rihanna, but the government is under pressure to refuse him entry this time.

Brown said he could use his status to help “prevent spousal abuse”.

Australia’s Minister for Women Michaelia Cash had urged Immigration Minister Peter Dutton to follow New Zealand’s lead and refuse him entry.

The concert dates are scheduled for December.

If people weren’t given a chance to redeem themselves than how are we any better ourselves? Let’s not forget, John Lennon was involved in a lot of domestic abuse as well, and he is regarded as a hero. One of mine in fact. So I can’t contradict myself in hating Chris Brown just because I’m not a fan of the way he conducts himself.

Not judging the rights or wrongs of Chris Brown but I always find it amusing that he gets absolutely vilified for his actions whilst someone like Matthew Broderick who killed someone behind the wheel of a car (and escaped with only a £175 fine!) lives a life unjudged whereas anything Chris Brown does is under a microscope.

I think its ridiculous the way people are demonizing him. If we were to kick out all the men that have ever hit a woman in this or other European country, the population would be dramatically reduced. As far as we know, this guy hit Rihanna once; its not like he was beating her up all the time. Give him a break.

Suzie I am just basing myself in what Rihanna said. In fact, months after all this happened she went back with him and gave another go to the relationship. As far as I know, they are still friends… doubt someone who was beaten on daily basis would stay friends with the attacker.

Did you read the police report???

    - Robyn F. turned to face Brown and he punched her in the left eye with his right hand. He then drove away in the vehicle and continued to punch her in the face with his right hand while steering the vehicle with his left hand. The assault caused Robyn F.’s mouth to fill with blood and blood to splatter all over her clothing and the interior of the vehicle.Brown looked at Robyn F. and stated, ‘I’m going to beat the sh- out of you when we get home! You wait and see!’

-”She picked up the cellular telephone with her left hand and before she could make a call he placed her in a head lock with his right hand and continued to drive the vehicle with his left hand.Brown pulled Robyn F. close to him and bit her on her left ear.”

    - ” He stopped the vehicle in front of 333 North June Street and Robyn F. turned off the car, removed the key from the ignition and sat on it.

Brown did not know what she did with the key and began punching her in the face and arms. He then placed her in a head lock positioning the front of her throat between his bicep and forearm. Brown began applying pressure to Robyn F.’s left and right carotid arteries, causing her to be unable to breathe and she began to lose consciousness.

She reached up with her left hand and began attempting to gouge his eyes in an attempt to free herself. Brown bit her left ring and middle fingers and then released her. While Brown continued to punch her, she turned around and placed her back against the passenger door. She brought her knees to her chest, placed her feet against Brown’s body and began pushing him away. Brown continued to punch her on the legs and feet, causing several contusions.”

he beat the shit out of her, in a car, in Public.

Actually, that’s quite typical behaviour for a victim of domestic violence. Perpetrators are extremely manipulative and charming and the victim – like others – fall for it. The abuser will make promises that it will never happen again and/or convince the victim that it was their fault.

Suzie, I am quiet far from being naive. I am very familiarised with domestic violence, some people abuse others in regular basis and some others just lose the temper one time. You are the one who doesnt seem to know much about it when you think that all abuses are happening on regular basis.

bicho , its called abuse for a reason , because it happens on a regular basis . I have yet to meet anyone who has said they they have only ever been hit by their partner only once . once that line has been crossed it’s very hard to go back , it usually happens again and again .

Suzie, the dictionary says that abuse is cruel and violent treatment of a person or animal. So no, it doesn’t need to be repeatedly. But anyways, I have my views and you have yours (which are just as valid) and we are not going to reach an agreement; so there is no point in carrying over this conversation.

That is some statement!……..personally, I do not know anyone in my circle of friends or acquaintances that has ever hit a woman, I’ve been around for many years. Twice in my lifetime I’ve seen girls getting hit in public and have stood in, one guy ran away…the other time, well, I got some kicking that left me shook for a long time. If you think this behavior is normal…you may need to change you circle of friends.

I never said that behaviour is normal. I know people that been beaten up by men and women equally. Not all the people, but quiet a few. It’s normally a huge burden for the victims and they would only open up with other people who have experienced something similar. Do I have to move out of my circle and leave some of my friends who are victims? No, dont think so. As an additional note, not everyone gets beaten up in public. Kudos to you for standing up for people anyways

aw bless your little heart. me thinks you doth protest too much. It’s probably because you hold racist views yourself and are trying to play the white knight in a forum where race was never mentioned. Go back to class, and try and get an education so you can hold a conversation with adults and not just throw the race card into a conversation in the hope it wins you points in life. TLDR: go and have a nap and then try and read the article again (maybe break out the Anne and Barry books too)

Well if thinking that everyone deserves a second chance makes me a racist then so be it. He makes a single slip up and is vilified, whereas a repeated woman beater like John Lennon is a legendary figure? You can’t honestly say that race has nothing to do with it. Maybe try reading my post before you start with the quite frankly bizarre ad hominem attacks.
