The world's largest catamaran is so big it has its own trampoline and Jacuzzi. Here's what it looks like

The correct term for one of these is a ‘super-yacht’.

THOSE WHO WANT the trappings of a super-yacht with the feeling of being on a wind-powered vessel should look no further than Hemisphere, the largest sailing catamaran in the world.

Designed and produced by Pendennis Shipyard, Hemisphere sits at over 44 meters (145 feet) long, or just under half a football field, and measures almost 17 meters (54.5 feet) across. Inside, the yacht can house up to 12 guests with two identical master suites along with multiple other bedrooms, all of which are stored in the boat’s hull.

The layout of the boat is simple: there is a bottom deck, which includes bedrooms for both guests and staff; a middle deck which houses the vast seating area; and a top deck which houses the Jacuzzi and tanning areas. Keeping the bedrooms in the hull means there is far more space for seating or eating areas, which helps the Hemisphere feel twice as big.

The yacht isn’t available to purchase, but it can be chartered for around $280,000 (£185,000) a week. The price includes access to the extensive water sports facilities and a full crew of 10, some of who are certified diving instructors.

Here’s what it looks like.

The Hemisphere is powered by two 490 horsepower engines which can achieve a top speed of around 20 knots (23 mph). However, a cruising speed of 11 knots (12 mph) is recommended for comfort.

While Hemisphere can sleep 12, the capacity for entertaining is almost endless. Beyond the sofas and seating areas, the yacht comes with a speaker system that can play in any area, giant TVs, and WiFi.

With an open back end, the yacht can provide truly stunning views and, when the weather turns, a canopy can be rolled out and the temperature controlled by air conditioning.

The Hemisphere is larger than the average house standing at around eight meters from the water to the top level. Due to a relatively small draft height (the distance from the bottom of the hull to the waterline) of three meters, the yacht can be taken through shallower waters than most other giant vessels.

The upper deck is designed for sunny-day comfort with a giant Jacuzzi, sun loungers, and a table that can seat 12 comfortably. If the weather turns, a canopy can be drawn over the area which is accessible via a stairway. It also provides a good view of the sunset.

Because the Hemisphere is a catamaran, it has an unusual feature: there is a 4.8-meter trampoline on the front which can also double as a calm place to relax, suspended above the water.

At night the Hemisphere can light up using specialised lights, controlled from inside the yacht. When moored off-shore, the lighting looks spectacular and sets the boat apart from others.

Everything is catered for by the crew of the yacht who both live and work onboard. Many of the crew specialise in water sports — an area the yacht excels in.

For those who like fishing, the Hemisphere comes with a 16-meter, custom-made boat that can travel up to 25 knots (30 mph). Getting ashore is made easier by the two tenders, one of which measures in at 8 meters while the other is 4.5.

The main deck includes a 100-square-meter space which is sub-divided into different sections, all with their own specific purpose.

The interior of the vessel was designed by Michael Leach Design (MLD) to be modern but tasteful, using natural materials such as wood. Here you can see the staircase from the middle deck into the lower deck, where the bedrooms are housed.

The Hemisphere includes two VIP rooms which can be opened up into one master bedroom if the owner wishes. The rooms include an ensuite, TV, vast amounts of cupboard space and any other comfort that could be found in a mansion.

The tables, of which there are many, include engravings of a world map to remind diners that they are exploring earth just like Christopher Columbus — just with more style and comfort.

Here’s a labelled cross-section of the main deck which runs throughout the entire yacht.

Any takers?

I’m not an expert on this…. But I believe the Roma Community merged with the Travelling Community. However, the Travelling Community is by blood predominantly Irish. Being that the Travelling Community is a closed society, through the years they kept their coupling within the community.

So today, in Ireland the Roma Community and the Travelling Community are two distinct groups with some similarities.

    Because they arent Gypsies.
Irish Travellers are a distinct Irish ethnic minority, who separated from the settled Irish community at least 1000 years ago; the claim was made that they are distinct from the settled community as Icelanders are from Norwegians.[25] Even though all families claim ancient origins, not all families of Irish Travellers date back to the same point in time; some families adopted Traveller customs centuries ago, while others did so more recently.[26] It is unclear how many Irish Travellers would be included in this distinct ethnic group at least from a genetic perspective.
    Irish Travelers are Irish!

I am not so sure 1000 years is enough for any sort of genetic variation, specially considering that there would be cases where this separation you speak of would break.
