A CAR HAS been filmed driving the wrong way up a motorway before crashing.
This incident happened in Kilkenny yesterday morning.
The car was recorded driving the wrong way up the M9 at around 10am yesterday morning.
It was caught on film by Don Callanan, who was driving to Dublin as part of his work with his courier company.
Speaking to TheJournal.ie about the incident he said, “It was very foggy so I was concentrating. Suddenly this car out of nowhere came flying against me.
You hear about these things, but it is very scary when something like that happens to you.
The gardaí confirmed that a vehicle had been driving the wrong way up the motorway and was involved in a two-car collision on the M9 at an area called Shankill, Paulstown in Kilkenny.
The incident is being dealt with by local gardaí and no one was injured in the crash.

Man calls his wife on the phone and tells her to be careful as there is reports of a mad driver driving the wrong way up the motorway.

Not going to try to make excuses for this idiot but even if you did miss the no entry signs what the hell did they think the traffic on the other side was for. should be banned for a couple of years, fined heavily and made a it their driving test again.

I honestly think they should be banned for life. If you can’t figure out that you’re on the wrong side of the motorway, then there’s no hope for you.
You know what you’re actually right. Two years isn’t enough. You can’t teach stupid so sitting the test again probably wouldn’t make a bit of difference.
If that’s not a good enough reason NOT to be cruising in the overtaking lane, I don’t know what is!!!
At least he had his lights on. The amount of drivers with no lights on over the last few foggy mornings is crazy.

Ted….I agree but I’ve actually seen two Garda cars driving with in the dark with only day time led lights on. If the Gardai are dumb….

See it the whole time in the M7, toll avoiders initially missing their turn, thankfully they normally drive on the hard shoulder
There should be a disabling device fitted to on/off ramps on motorways to prevent cars going the wrong way.
I use M 8 a fair bit. Cahir to Cork and every time I see people sitting in cars parked on MOTORWAY. Surely this is Illegal. WHERE ARE THE MOTORWAY COPS.LOTS OF PEOPLE HAVN’T A CLUE ON MOTORWAY DRIVING.

Almost all irish drivers don’t know how drive on motorways. According to what I read here on the journal, the driving lane is always empty. So doesn’t that make everyone a lane hogger?

My parents were driving on this road yesterday morning, a truck flashed them so luckily my dad moved lanes! Met this eejet a few minutes later! Thanks to the truck driver otherwise the driver would’ve hit my parents
I was about to get on the motorway heading south at kilcullen a few weeks back and a mad lunatic comes up off the ramp , he must of came from athy exit, had of been 3 seconds earlier ,carnage!

What the could do is put a higher curb coming off motor ways to deter cars from entering, if the are turning left into,
&or curve the right exit more and septate right/left to make it more devined.

I’d say she was fixing her makeup, talking on her ‘phone and filing her nails so she didn’t notice that she was on the wrong side of the motorway, so just cut her some slack,ok?

This is exactly why I have a dashcam.. some very dangerous drivers out there
forget penelty points there fine for speading in lane way but this should be a prision sentence and banned from driving for LIFE putting peoples/familys lifes at risk is not a joke, dumb fuker
