RELAX. THERE IS no reason to believe that Dublin is about to be attacked in an air raid. There’s no sign of a nuclear meltdown either.
A loud siren heard all across the Dublin bay area had a lot of Dubliners spooked this morning, and some wondering if the end was nigh.
But, thankfully, it wasn’t the beginnings of World War III but just a drill at Dublin Port.
Dublin Port have confirmed that the siren was part of a Poolbeg evacuation drill.
Phew!
That news is sure to be a relief to all these people who feared for their lives when they heard it going off.
It’s okay, we can all come out now.

@Chef Harold: If you want to ;) Seriously though, the series isn’t a digital detox or telling you how to use your phone. It’s about cutting down on mindless scrolling and the associated stress.
For the last couple of months, I’ve started leaving my phone in my coat pocket when I get in from work (about 6:30pm) for at least 2 hours. Most days I hit that target.
So far I’ve:
- Spent more quality time reading with or playing with the kids before bed.
- Read less articles.
- Viewed less Twitter.
- Got more done around the house.
- not been missed by anyone :(
I’d recommend trying it!
Just installed the checky app to see how many times I still check my phone per day… I’d guess approx 100.
