Former Rose of Tralee Maria Walsh will be taking the helm of the TV3 Toy Show this year

She will be accompanied by TV3 regular Brian Ormond.

TV3 WILL THIS year once again be going up against RTÉ in the Toy Show stakes.

Its rival programme will be presented by former Rose of Tralee Maria Walsh and one of the channel’s stalwarts, Brian Ormond.

The 90-minute broadcast will be going out on the 20 November at 9pm and will feature a mix of dance, music and variety.

The children in the audience will be aged between 5 and 16 and will be demonstrating and testing a variety of this year’s big toys.

In its first year of broadcast last year the programme drew in 472,100 people and was presented by Brian McFadden and Karen Koster.

Despite its success, it still has some way to go to compete with RTÉ’s offering.

Last year Ryan Tubridy’s Late Late Toy Show drew in an average audience of 1.4 million viewers.

Speaking about hosting the show, Maria Walsh said: “This is a really exciting opportunity for me. I’ve always dreamed of being a part of a toy show.

When TV3 approached me I was over the moon and I just thought this was right up my alley and something I could bring a lot of energy to and have loads of fun in the process.

Accompanying the show will also be a documentary that will look at the audition process for the young ‘Toy Testers’ appearing.

I’ve been loving you a long time Down all the years, down all the days And I’ve cried for all your troubles Smiled at your funny little ways We watched our friends grow up together And we saw them as they fell Some of them fell into Heaven Some of them fell into Hell

Shane has given a lot of joy and happiness to me and untold numbers of others through his music and talent. He is his mother’s son. May God comfort him at this difficult time. Shane may you be blessed and comforted secure in the knowledge, that our support is a drop in the ocean when compared with the gifts you and your Mum have shared with us. May she Rest In Peace.
