Eight cars broken into outside two GAA clubs within an hour

Gardaí say a number of items were taken.

GARDAÍ ARE INVESTIGATING after several cars outside two GAA clubs were broken into in the space of an hour.

The incidents took place at St Jude’s and Faughs in Templeogue, Dublin.

Within an hour eight cars had been broken into – four at each club – between 8pm and 9pm.

Investigating gardaí from Terenure say the windows of cars were broken or locks damaged, and small items of property taken.

St Jude’s are now advising anyone at the car park to keep an eye out for strangers in the area:

Gardaí have warned the public to be extra vigilant as the evenings get darker.

There is an increase of as much as 25% in the number of burglaries during the winter months.

Authorities are advising homeowners to “have an alarm, light up their home this winter, lock their doors and windows and sheds, and join or set-up a local crime prevention scheme”.

happens every weekend on the beaches around Dublin, and also around the mountains.
basically anywhere that our local indigenous nomadic tribe, know that the drivers will be away for their cars for a good period.

A couple of sting operations by the guards wouldn’t go astray preferably before a sting operation by a couple of the lads from these clubs. Either way is fine with me by the way but rehab following traumatic brain injury is fairly expensive.

Was watching a programme a couple of yrs ago. They said having garden trelis around tops of fences and walls is good deterent as it makes it awkward to climb over as breaks easy which makes noise. Even better if you have spiky vines growing along it.. Tho alot of these burgalries seem to be through front doors these days.. Suppose it reduces risk tho..

In some parts of the country you’d want bloody razor wire and heavy machine gun positions to keep them out. I found a fella around the back or our place a few weeks back..”just looking for a drop of water boss”. I turned the dogs on him. I’m telling you they can fairly ,ahem, travel when they want to.

But you can fit a small simple video dash cam to vehicles front of rear for less than a couple of hundred euro at any Halfords shop,it will record hours of top class video which can be stored on a laptop if required, with date time and location, and with your vehicle parked up it can be also used in house burglary detection.

Folks this is a regular occurrence throughout Clubs all over Dublin and the country. It’s happened in my club on several occasions in Dublin 15. So many people coming and going it’s so easy for this S#um to do it. It’s so important to leave your keys, wallets ect at least half way down the pitch. The last time it happened in my club all of our gear bags were at the top of the pitch while we were down the pitch traing. Mobile phones, wallets and a car were stolen. Eyes and ears must be open all of the time unfortunately.

When we play soccer – in a variety of parks/grounds/pitches – the goalkeeper has a money type canvas bag to hold all the team members’ valuables (phones, wallets, cash etc. – contained in individual socks), if we don’t have a club member travelling with us. Not a perfect solution – but one that has worked so far….

This is happening for years at those gaa clubs. And at the spawell. It’s a joke at this stage. You think the Garda would know it’s going to happen every weekend.
