It's colder in Meath than it is in Minsk right now...

It’s set to drop as low as minus three tomorrow night too.

TAKES A BIT of getting used to every winter, doesn’t it?

Sure, while there would be nothing remarkable about the current cold snap if this was January, people have been taking to social media to greet the first wintry showers of the season and tell the world about their trips to buy some new winter woolies.

These are, for the record, the coolest conditions we’ve experienced so far this season.

Temperatures today are hovering between four and six degrees in much of the country – making, for instance, Meath colder than the Belarusian capital Minsk at the moment.

It will drop as low as zero in some areas overnight – but the chilliest conditions of the weekend are expected tomorrow night, when it’s set to drop as low as minus three.

The temperatures are set to recover heading into next week though. Here’s the latest outlook from Met Éireann:

This weekend’s Polar air mass will be replaced by a milder westerly airflow moving in from the Atlantic bringing air temperatures up to between 9 and 13 degrees by day and not falling generally below 4 to 8 degrees at night with little if any frost.

In the meantime, sure let’s enjoy our light dusting…

Love how there’s a possibility it may fall below freezing for likely the first time this year and already we are comparing ourselves to others that would laugh their asses off if they knew what are mild winter climate is like.

I wonder if in Spain during a period iof bad weather in Summer they do the same thing saying ” it’s a most as cold as Dublin today in Barcelona” wrap up warm.

It was bad but the Guards are on the case and everyone is okay which is the main thing. They hit a few other apartments nearby too. No place in the world for these kind of folk

Being “Royal” just means that you are descended from robber barons.
I think Meath people would be insulted to be compared to the riff-raff “Royals”.

Pat I think its called the royal county because Tara was the seat of the High Kings of Ireland, nothing to do with the British royals

That’s right Darren, but unfortunately his research didn’t prove fruitful so he had to go back to New York, I’m not sure exactly what he’s up to now but the last I heard was that he was working in a library and was enjoying it.
