IT’S NOW DECEMBER, and the lights are twinkling in shop windows and the decorations are being pulled down from the attic.
But as Christmas approaches, there’s the small matter of some shopping to attend to.
Wading through crowded shops ladened with presents bought in a panic is never a pleasant experience, but this year there’s a little extra help available for anyone planning to make the trip into Dublin city centre.
A new website called Is Dublin Busy? pulls together open-source travel information on the city.
The creative agency who put the site together, In The Company Of Huskies, said so far the data found that heading out early before 11am, or taking advantage of later opening times, will mean you can beat the crowds.
It also quashed the belief that 8 December is the busiest shopping day (dubbed by locals as Culchie Shopping Day, but we won’t hold that against them), finding that the rush to grab some last minutes gifts makes 19 December the busiest.

Should just keep it for the kids, parents and other half. Anyone else can take a jump. Your time is still more important to people than how much you spend on them.

Pity theres no infograph charting the density of drug addicts around the city centre so we path alternative routes
I go to the galway Christmas market every year, €3 for park and ride per car (even if you’ve a 7 seater lol) at ballybritt racecourse, you’re in the city in 15 minutes and the car park itself is nice and near both the Dublin and Limerick roads!
Dublin park and rides are €4 for the day plus the price of a return luas ticket for every passenger and takes a minimum half hour to get to the city!
Went into town Friday evening to shop and parked in q park off Talbot street and €3 60 a hour to park and as previous comments have said its like the walking dead around o Connell street and I didn’t feel safe walking around ,

That website is prob the best marketing campaign of the year. It’s all over the net.
