AN INTERNATIONAL SOFT darts player, who claimed she suffered ongoing pain in her right hand following an injury at work in a Tesco store, took part in a darts championship tournament shortly after the accident, a court has heard.
Ewa Janowicz told the Circuit Civil Court that in August 2013, she had been pulling a cage at Tesco Rathfarnham, Dublin, when it became trapped against a ridge and toppled on her.
Today she told Circuit Court President Mr Justice Raymond Groarke that she had to leave work because of pain in her back, right hand, arm and shoulder. She had left work early to attend a VHI Swiftcare clinic.
Janowicz (30), of Ticknock Park, Sandyford, Dublin, a married mother who is originally from Poland, had re-attended the clinic two days later, complaining of pain in her right hand and arm.
She had been off work for two weeks and had then been on holiday in Poland in September. She had returned to work for a few days before going on sick leave for several weeks.
Janowicz claimed she had not been trained adequately and sued Tesco Ireland Ltd for negligence. The store denied liability and claimed Janowicz had been the author of her own misfortune.
When Judge Groarke heard that Janowicz had taken part in a soft darts world championship in September 2013 during her holiday in Poland, he adjourned the case to allow talks between the parties.
Following a brief adjournment Judge Groarke was told that Janowisz’s claim had been settled for an undisclosed sum but that she had withdrawn the part of her claim that sought special damages of €7,300 for loss of earnings.
Judge Groarke was asked not to make any order regarding legal costs.

these eastern states in India (Uttar pradesh, Bihar and West Bangal) are very badly managed traveller states. No laws. This was highlighted in media because everyone was surprised as this is not a common site in India. Exams and Education is taken very seriously. They probably will have to resit the exams.

It’s sad that this happened. One should not generalised whole India with a single pic. One should know that India’s population is 1252 billion. So we have wide variety of lifestyles. The contract invigilators are sacked and students are bared to re-appear for next 3 years. Believe me this does not usually happens. It’s only due to the exam centre in rural area, contract invigilators and yes poor ethics. Please keep in mind country with 1.252 would never be perfect. we can only try to be closer to achieve perfection.Whole diaspora and Indians are ashamed this happened.
What if the parents sat them down 2/3 hours a day and helped them to study. I found that studying in the evening helped me pass any test I took.
I’d imagine it’s because the parents are dimwits and want their children to do better.
Glen to like pointing out the obvious but in order for someone to help with study they need to be able to understand the material being studied. Highly unlikely in most of these cases I’d guess

Its not just styding to pass. Its about securing top positions which will guarantee a seat in college and if excellence continues then a job. Anything less is same as failing. Kids are introduced to this kind of competitive studies from very young age of 4-5! Naturally that leads to many students comitting suicide and alot of obvious suicidal spots like bridges, cliffs etc have police patrol especially the day results are out.
The parents may not be dim. Its probably because they had no opportunity to attend school in to secondary cycle and as a result are unable to help their kids pass exams in any other way
sadly these people are daily wage earners. passing 10 may get child to apply for low earning jobs

Why didn’t they just write some cheats on the inside of the calculator in pencil like normal people?
This seemingly small scale situation discredits the Indian education system and may deter International companies from employing Indian residents.
Mac most international companies are paying a few cent an hour to workers in India. This won’t deter them
