11 places doing tasty mulled wine in Dublin

We’ll take one of each, please.

NOTHING SAYS CHRISTMAS time like a delish glass of mulled wine.

So when the wind is blowing the face off you around town, duck into these places for some comfort:

1. Dice Bar, Smithfield

With festive window decor to boot.

2. JW Sweetman

mulledwine JW Sweetman JW Sweetman

Mulled wine AND mulled cider.

3. The Church

Is there a more festive picture than this?

4. Cavern, Baggot Street

5. The Westin Hotel

Fancier surroundings.

6. Brasserie Sixty6

7. Fallon & Byrne

A very central location. And it looks absolutely delish.

8. South William Bar

9. The Bernard Shaw

Dublin_Pubs_Bernard_Shaw_1 Failteireland Failteireland

As they say on Facebook, The Bernard Shaw has hot apple cider and mulled wine cooking up for you all day.

10. Sober Lane

All of the above, please.

Sounds like the kinds of pubs a ponce would frequent with his fellow hipsters.

I go to a real pub. You have your choice of 4 or 5 different pints on draught and you either like it or lump it. If you fancy a sing-song that’s ok too. If you want to dance around to the live music that’s more than welcome. If you wanna sit at the corner of the bar and prop it up for the night in peace and quiet you can do that too. And a fella can turn up in working clothes if he’s having a fast quart quart on a rainy wednesday afternoon before heading home for the spuds. . Nor do you need a fcuking menu of drinks, a bouncer, or fcuking proseco.

The barman can take 5 or 6 drinks orders at the same time and doesn’t smell like a perfume factory or worry about how he looks in the mirror half the night either.

And there’s always one guy in the pub that gas Elvis sideburns but no-one really knows who he is. But he’s a friendly type. Just loves Elvis or Engelbert Humperdinck.

Article can relate to more people since a third of the population lives in and around Dublin. Couldn’t imagine top ten places for mulled wine in Cavan would go down too well do you? Give it time and we might have an article on Cork then I can have a moan if I just haven’t already.

So you take cheap wine, bring it to near boiling, throw half a spice rack in along with whatever’s in the fruit bowl, then to add insult to injury you tell us it’s a “happening” drink and charge a fortune for it……. Thanks but no thanks…

Was in Edinburgh last weekend. Half the price as here for a mulled wine etc and a fantastic Christmas market. Sure the stupid Irish will pay these Dublin prices. Fools.

Christmas markets in Edinburgh are fantastic but ridiculously overpriced. Since they opened this year a few weeks ago, the price of a venison burger has risen from £5 to £6.50. Tis the season to be greedy
