Man killed, six others injured in three-car crash in Galway

Another of the drivers is said to be in a serious condition in hospital this evening.

A MAN IN his 20s has been killed after the car he was driving crashed into two other vehicles in Co Galway this afternoon.

It happened on the R337 at Cordarragh, Headford at around 2pm today.

The young man was the sole occupant of the car, which collided with a jeep and another car.

The driver of the jeep is said to be in a serious condition, while the passenger from that vehicle is also being treated this evening in University Hospital Galway.

The driver and three passengers in the second car were also taken to hospital at UHG. Their injuries are described as “not life-threatening”, according to gardaí.

The man who was killed was pronounced dead at the scene.

A section of the road has been closed as forensic tests are carried out, and diversions are in place.

Gardaí at Tuam are investigating. Anyone with information is being asked to contact them at 093 70 840, to call the Garda Confidential Telephone Line on 1800 666 111 or to contact any garda station.
