This charity wants your unwanted gifts - even that awful scarf you got

Crosscare will redistribute them to young people in care and the homeless.

BEFORE YOU START looking for gift receipts to bring back that ugly scarf someone gave you or hide away that terrible-smelling bath set from a work colleague until you re-gift it, remember there would be people who would be delighted to get your unwanted presents.

You can put them to good use by donating them to Crosscare who will redistribute them next year to young people in care and the homeless. Yesterday, hundreds of people living in homeless and emergency accommodation received gifts that were donated to the Pro following Christmas 2014.

Father Damien O’Reilly who is the administrator in the Pro Catherdral said the simple scheme allows the charity to give a gift to someone in their services who would not normally receive one.

It is also a reminder to us all of how we can get needlessly caught up in wasteful commercialism at this time of year.

He said Dublin parishioners had already been “extraordinarily generous” to Crosscare this month with tons of food collected for the Diocesan food appeal.

“The unwanted gifts appeal will make sure that as well as the essentials, people who are struggling with life, will get a small token of cheer each Christmas.”

Any unwanted presents can be brought to the crib in the Pro-Cathedral until 6 January.

How long can it take to write down that you will financially punish anyone with a car and crisscross the nation with cycle lanes?

@Mogh Roith: And state over and over again that you’re going to build more DART lines and metros/public transport but never build it. Must be costing the state tens of millions to keep the charade going.

Sure all the greens have done is put taxes on everything they could. Did it this government and did it the last time they were in government. They’re policy is put a carbon tax on it and more cycle lanes to nowhere.

Hard to believe that micro / smaller States within EU like Malta , Cyprus , Luxembourg with less resources can Lodge thier plans on time and Irekabd cannot , Odd also that with a ” Green Minister” that We could not achieve this deadline ..????? Is He ( Eamon Ryan ) seeking perfection or “what gives” as they say ? The sad thing is that it really does not matter that much anyway since China and India along with insane population growth in Africa + South + Central America etc has condemned us to exceeding 2% .yet the Woke Mib only interested in criticising Europe + North America exclusively.

The Greens just don’t have time to draw up a plan. They are too busy blighting or streets with plastic poles to protect cyclists.

Half of the city (Dublin) has so much plastic poles that it looks like permanent roadworks.

Shame on you Green Party. You’ve blighted our city with plastic. The same plastic that you do whinge about. FAIL!
