ANOTHER WINTER STORM is set to hit the day after tomorrow.

The system – provisionally called ‘Frank’ will sweep in on Tuesday afternoon, bringing heavy rain and strong winds.

Here’s the forecast from Met Éireann:

“It will become very wet and very windy during the afternoon as heavy rain pushes in from the Atlantic in gale force southeasterly winds.

“This is from another powerful Atlantic storm out to the west of Ireland which may produce some damaging gusts over Ireland and further flooding so please keep in touch with the latest forecasts and warnings from Met Éireann.

[Be] aware also that there will be exceptionally high Atlantic waves along the north, west and south coast.

The centre of the storm will have moved on to Iceland by Wednesday, but there will still be heavy spells of rain over the country.

It will continue to be changeable into the end of the week, and the new year.

This morning 

After a cold night, there’s frost in some areas this morning. Frost and fog will clear slowly and it will be a mild, windy day with temperatures of 10 to 13 degrees.

It will be windy and cloudy tomorrow, with heavy rain sweeping in from the Atlantic by the afternoon. Staying mild though, with similar temperatures to today.

The name game 

‘Frank’ is the next name on the list of pre-decided winter storm names announced earlier this year as part of the new Anglo-Irish storm naming system.

Confirmation on whether the UK and Irish met offices will be officially naming this storm system is expected later today.

So far, for the record, we’ve had Abigail, Barney, Clodagh, Desmond (of course), and Eva.

Gertrude, by the looks if it, will have to wait until 2016.
