Under 16 caught racing scrambler bike with no licence or insurance

A teenager from Ballyfermot died on Christmas morning after crashing a scrambler-type bike he received as a present.

SCRAMBLER BIKES ARE continuing to cause serious problems in many areas across the country.

Gardaí in Santry seized a bike which was racing with two others yesterday.

The driver was under 16 and had no driving licence or insurance. It’s understood that the bike in question was a Christmas present.

It comes after the death of 16-year-old Warren Kenny on Christmas morning.

The teenager from Ballyfermot died after crashing a scrambler-type bike he received as a Christmas present.

A garda spokesperson told TheJournal.ie that there is a problem with these bikes in certain areas around Dublin.

Dublin City Sinn Féin Councillor Noeleen Reilly has called on Dublin City Council to develop a more community led approach to scramblers and quads, saying:

This is obviously a very dangerous situation for all involved and in most cases these bikes are not insured.

“I have spoken to the Gardaí on many occasions and they will tell you that because of the fear of an accident they cannot chase after anyone on a scrambler of quad.”

Wouldn’t be sorry to see the guardian to the wall. Nothing but a far left echo chamber.

@Adam Conroy: Prefer to see the Daily Heil close, but in the age of dumb click button information there’s less space for nuanced and intelligent reporting so that’s probably going to happen. Just so you know, the Daily Mail acquired the nickname in the 1930s for it’s support of fascist Oswald Mosley and his Blackshirts e.g.

@David Jordan: I’m not particularly fond of any British newspaper. They’re either too far right or left. There’s very little anymore that’s not pushing some view under the guise of journalism.

@Adam Conroy: However, I think, that right wing journalism attracts both people who like it and people who disagree, I found myself watching Fox News for the first time just over 10 years ago shaking my head watching Sean Hannity and Bill O’Reilly, I just could not stop watching each morning until my holiday was over. And I sheepishly admit, read the Daily Mail now and then, and probably more then the Guardian, but I’m addictively gauping at the stupidity and getting an information fix.

Don’t think people on the conservative end of the political spectrum click on the Guardian website or if they’re American watch CNN the same way, they just ignore it.

Well that’s my anecdotal experience, and why I think liberal journalism faces a relative disadvantage, and that’s a worry as you need a balance.

The guardian is an excellent read, with some quality writing. It’s world affairs section is great as is its sports coverage.

@Diarmuid: Sports coverage is good. News coverage, particular on UK politics is extremely biased. They are still so butthurt and bitter about Brexit that it comes through in ANY reporting about ANY subject if it includes ANYONE who was even remotely pro-brexit.

It’s an absolute rag, sports aside.

@Diarmuid: the anti-working class rag, it’s mostly narrative driven journalism and opinion pieces. I don’t follow sports but the political stories are always shamefully biased.

@Paul Buckley: as the poster before me said, it caters for the woke and those obsessed with identity politics. I find that to be disrespectful as instead of presenting you with all the facts and angles on a story, they want to tell you how to think, stories delivered through a narrow minded lens,so it’s more like indoctrination. It used to be decent though, before the internet started wiping out journalism and there is now a greater desperation for stories that sell. Am liking this one though :)

@Paul Buckley: I agree they mostly do have left/right goals, but The Guardian is at the extreme end of that scale, and unfortunately there are rather a lot of people who can’t differentiate between the factual and the narrative driven. It’s a shame that it appears that balance is not profitable.

The thing is you have to use your own judgements while navigating a broadsheet newspaper and be fully aware of the writer of the piece you are reading. Good newspapers offer to the reader an opinion for the reader to consider to make a judgement you need to read an opposing view . Very few people do this. That is why most don’t know how to form a reasoned opinion and are influenced by anything and everything
