A 53-YEAR-OLD Texas woman has staked an early claim for Granny of the Year, after giving birth to a health baby girl, whom she carried as a surrogate for her daughter.
Kelley McKissack (28) and her husband Aaron McKissack (33), had been trying for three years to conceive a child.
The couple tried countless fertility treatments, and Kelley had three miscarriages, according to a statement by the Medical Centre of Plano.
After their last round of In Vitro Fertilisation (IVF), they were left with four embryos, and Kelley’s mother, Tracey Thompson, offered to help.
Despite having gone through menopause seven years prior, advanced assisted reproductive technology and “a series of carefully coordinated medical treatments” allowed Thompson to be implanted with one of Kelley’s embryos in April.
And yesterday, just after 3 pm (9pm Irish time), the 53-year-old woman gave birth to a six-pound, 11-ounce daughter and granddaughter – named Kelcey (a combination of Kelly and Tracey).
“It’s such a blessing that I can do this for my daughter,” Thompson said afterwards.
Kelley described it as “the best gift…for a lifetime.”
Advanced age typically rules out pregnancy and surrogacy, but Thompson was considered for the procedure due to her “excellent health.”

They tried to hard to follow the format of The Sopranos without extending the cast. All we have is a flawed family who if they communicated with each other be a lot better off.

That scene where the Hound is taking a moment to figure out how to get the wight out of the box safely was one of my favourites.
Jon Snow had aunts in his pants
The series had some epic moments but I found some of the writing a little poor. The reasoning for Jon and his band of merry men to go north of the wall seemed illogical. They took a massive risk for very little gain. Why could none of those smart characters see that? Since they moved beyond the books, the writers seem to be a bit lost. It doesn’t make any sense that Jon would be called Aegon Targaryen when Rhaegar already had a child called Aegon. Was he short of names for his kids? They seem to be merging Jon and Aegon into 1 character as the real Aegon is very much alive in the books and wants to claim the throne for himself.
Twas a bit cold this morning. Winter is coming…
