GARDAÍ ARE APPEALING to the public to help identify the man whose body was found in the Grand Canal yesterday.

The man’s body was found yesterday evening in canal near Ardclough in Kildare in what is believed to have been a suitcase.

Speaking to reporters today, Superintendent Gerry Wall said that anyone who was in the area in the last few days might have vital information.

“Gardaí are appealing for anyone who used the canal between last Thursday 14 and Saturday 16 January in the area between Kearneystown  and Ardclough Bridge to contact Leixlip Gara Station on 01 666 7800.

“People may have walked or cycled or been in the area in the last week and we are asking them to please contact us”

Garda Divisional Search and the Garda Water Unit members continue to search in the area and a full technical examination of the scene is being carried out by the Garda Technical Bureau.

The death is being treated as murder and gardaí have confirmed that the body is that of a male but that there has been no positive identification of the deceased.

The body has been removed to the morgue at Naas general Hospital where Dr Michael Curtis will carry out a post mortem examination this afternoon.

The council would be better off fixing the giant pothole in the road outside my house. God I am grumpy today.

Things are slipping badly though. I went into a Tesco yesterday and there was nothing to wipe the trolly handles with. A staff member on customer service just stared when informed of the situation. Not the first shop I have come across with cleaning supplies empty.

You know this thing of locking, cancelling, postponing etc…
Don’t mention it and nobody will give a toss. If its spread around the media then the lower IQd people pick up on it and hold a protest.
