Take a tour of Cate Blanchett's new £3 million mansion in the English countryside

It is VERY nice.

AUSTRALIAN ACTRESS CATE Blanchett has bought a £3 million (€3.9 million) mansion in East Sussex, England.

The two-time Oscar winner, who was also recently nominated for her role in Carol, has bought a Victorian country home, Highwell House, in Rotherfield, Crowborough, according to The Sunday Times.

She is expected to live there with her playwright husband Andrew Upton and four children, Dashiell John, Roman Robert, Ignatius Martin and adopted daughter Edith Vivian Patricia.

The home was built in the 19th century and sits on 13 acres of land in the English countryside, featuring seven bedrooms, seven bathrooms and five reception rooms.

The purchase of the historic manor follows the recent sale of her Sydney home which was sold for $20 million (€18.3 million). The Hunters Hill residence, where she lived with her family since 2005, spanned 3,642 square metres with five bedrooms and four bathrooms.

Here’s a closer look at the mansion.

According to Country Life, it was originally built in 1890 and known as Higher Steep.

The historic mansion is located not far from other A-list celebrities such as Kate Winslet who lives in West Wittering, and Heather Mills in Robertsbridge.

@Julian Swann: Disagree. Many decades of work go into becoming a judge. Deserving of punishment and reprimand, but wholly disproportionate to lose his job. We need a culture of people in public office being willing to admit mistakes- not a pre-judged witch-hunt at the first sign of controversy, which naturally leads to attempted cover ups and dishonesty. Balance and nuance on these issues is required. Keep the dogs in their kennels for now!

@up down: but we don’t have a culture of that. We have a culture of arrogance and the rules apply to the plebs not me attitude. We have a culture of favouritism, nepotism and cronyism. The is no balance in a country where a man who robs 100 quid gets Jail but a man who robs 100million gets a state bail out. People in positions like chief justice have to be held to a higher standard hence the punishment is more severe how can you have someone who purports to be the bastion of law and order in the country defying state guidelines. And by the looks of it that he’s got off the hook he’s not one bit apologetic eithet

@Patrick O Connell: why not? He flouted the restrictions we’ve all had to follow. This supreme court judge, whose job it is to decide whether laws made by the legislature are legal or not, has been hobknobbing with TDs the whole time, thereby throwing his middle finger up at the supposed separation of powers, and the Irish people. He has no credibility left to pass judgement on his fellow citizens, given this very public failure of judgement by him. Now instead of any sort of contrition, he’s comparing those who hold him to account as the KKK and blaming the media for catching him out. If I ever have the misfortune of ending up in a courtroom opposite this eejit, I’ll refuse to recognise his authority, because he has none left.

He made a conscious decision to attend despite the current climate and it was a 2 fingered salute to all those who could not attend funerals of loved ones etc.. This shouldn’t even be up for debate.

@up down: It does not take controversy for cover ups concerning politicians and the judges in this country. Jerry Buttimer who was forced to resign and other senators who attended golf gate have been appointed to Oireachtas committes. At a recent meeting between government ministers and the banks Brian Hayes was a representative for the banks at this meeting. Hayes went into hiding after he and his unnamed guests were exposed. Vast majority of the people have abided by the guidelines. Yet the likes of politicians, bankers when cought call it a witch hunt. A judge investigated by a judge . The circus continues.

If the rules only apply to the plebs as people claim then why aren’t people calling for the bar owners and hotel owners and students and plumbers etc to lose thier jobs for all the stories we see every other day in the news of people breaking the rules. Why are people singling out and hounding a person simply becase of his job title. Let’s be realistic, it was a very minor breach if any at all.
