GARDAÍ HAVE RENEWED their public appeal for information as the investigation into the brutal murder of Dublin man Kenneth O’Brien continues.
Kenneth’s dismembered body was recovered from a suitcase in the Grand Canal at Ardclough, Co Kildare on 16 January.
The appeal comes after the Garda water unit discovered additional body parts which are now being tested to see if they belong to the deceased man at Sallins, Co Kildare.
In the appeal gardaí have again asked people returning to their property or premises after an absence to check to see if there was anything unusual, such as a room or equipment disturbed.
Chief Superintendent John McPolin of Naas Garda Station called once more for witnesses or anyone who was in or around the Grand Canal near Ardclough on Friday 15 and early Saturday 16 January 2016 to come forward.
Likewise, investigating Gardaí are also keen to speak to anyone who may have observed, seen or had any contact with Kenneth since the early hours of Friday morning when he left Lealand Road, Clondalkin or can assist in tracing his movements.
The family and friends of Kenneth O’Brien wish to thank the public for the messages of support that they continue to receive the gardaí said in their appeal.
While Kenneth’s torso was recovered on 16 January, the search for his head and limbs had been continuing.

Is there no decent photos of this man where he doesn’t look really sinister.
I’m sure his family have more to worry about than finding a photo of him that’s more pleasing on the eye to some folk on here..

I feel sorry for his family and his child who has to grow up knowing the way he was killed.
Omg, hopefully this poor man can now be given a decent burial. Respect to the Gardai that have to deal with all the nasty stuff, really do not envy them, must be ghastly. Betcha” next year Paul Williams will release “the exclusive details” in a book or a Sunday rag, to satisfy the curiosity of those that like all the gory, morbid details.
To raise an point with such detail shows a degree of anticipation and curiosity. Bet you’ll be the first in the queue for the paper Anne.

I think the Garda have done a remarkable job so far given that the perpetrator(s) went to a lot of trouble to hide the identity of the victim. Despite the strain on resources they’ve obviously made a lot of progress.
I think the public have been doing a remarkable job here. They have found all the evidence right?

As to the photo of the victim..have you a media friendly mugshot ready to go in the unlikely event (please the gods that it never happens) that you might be the subject of a national/ international investigation? I know I haven’t one myself and I have no idea if the rest of the family have an up- to- date and clear photo of me.
Fascinating case..
Every day something new seems to crop up. Everything from the dead mans personal life to links with the the underworld.
What do we know? I suspect the guards are no closer to solving it. A public appeal for information almost a week later is not a good sign.
You don’t read many true crime books do you? You’ve just described the start of every murder investigation..
I question why the body parts dumped clearly knowing they would be found. does this guy/guys want them to be found in order to boost rep or scare others or simply grab hedlines.
